Assistance please....C4S or used CL65

Porsche just attempted a hostile take-over of VW, and it BLEW up in their face. They straddled themselves with debt to acquire more and more VW stock, but the German state of Lower Saxony (where VW is based) has some law on the books that allows them to veto any take overs of VW even if the company controls a majority stake (like Porsche had acquired).
Back on topic:
Trade your E63 on the CL65 and buy the C4S, solves both problems

Here's my opinion. If you're not getting a TT get the C2S. You don't need AWD in S. Carolina, and you said it's not your DD. The C2S is a more focused drivers car - I had one and traded it for the TT. It is a great car.
Now, do a bit of tweaking to the suspension of the TT and it's a whole 'nother story.

Thanks for all the replies. Just goes to show how passionate we all are about cars and how opinions differ. I was curious as to wether I needed a C4S or a C2S. I do like the wider body of the C4S and Turbo as well as the ability to squeeze thicker wheels and tires under there.
I really do enjoy the E63 and love driving that thing to and from work EVERYDAY. Just got rear Hankook Ventus Evo v12s BTW and they rock. Have all of 100 miles so will keep you posted.
Have decided that I will either get that used CL65 and pamper it or get a new porsche C2S or C4S, unless I can find a pristine low mileage used turbo.
Whatever I get I do plan on modding it. The CL65 would be the easiest. Renntech ECU and TCU and POW.... Kick ***. The Turbo is definitely modable but not sure about the C2S or C4S so that plays a role. Unfortunately, learned a lesson from the NA of the 63 and the limited ability for power extraction.

Great point. Part of the reason I have stuck with AMG is that the dealership in Columbia, SC has been great. They also do their own RennTech work and certify it. I do not know much about the Porsche dealership, but you gotta start somewhere.

Why a C4S? Unless you don't trust yourself. But you can learn to drive a butt heavy RWD car. Think of it as a FWD car going backwards

The wide body is primarily looks (or AWD if you really want that.)
The new 997.2 will be fun even stock.

I returned my lease 06' E55 and bought this beauty,2009 C4S PDK. I love driving it and it is a total difference experience compare to the AMGs. I can't wait for Porsche to release the Aero or GT3 kit for the 2009+. That will be the project for next year.

Love that car in red. You seem to have MBs for comfort as well. I did not know that they were planning to release Aero kits. I love those things, espeically the rear wing. If you don't mind me asking, 'Why the C4S vs anything else?' You've got a winter car already. Did the C4S drive better than the C2S or was it more of a safety thing for canyon carving?

The reason for the C4S is just in case I do take it out in light snow in the future, and AWD gives me a better sense of security during spirited driving. Plus I like the wide-*** look. One mod I will do first is to install the primary muffler bypass pipes to delete the center muffler for a slightly deeper growl.

Neither. Go for an 04 996 Turbo X50 or 05 Turbo S. The 911/996 are a steal right now and the 997 isn't enough better to deserve the premium.
I did the '997 C4S' vs. '996 Turbo' dance in December and went with the Turbo. Glad I did.
By the way, for those in snow country, the AWD 911 models are incredible in the snow. Drove mine every day over the winter. Drove it when the E55 couldn't get out of the driveway.

I need something with a warranty and really prefer newer technology. Figure if I am spending the money would like to get as close to new (or new) if possible.

I wanted a Turbo, so the price difference between 996 and 997 was substantial. I figured for the difference, I could pay my independent mechanice pretty well.
In the 8K miles I've driven it since December, all I've done is oil changes.
Given your two choices, I definitely go for the P-car. The Mercedes isn't that different from your existing car. AWD is amazing in these cars too. My P-car is better in the snow than my Explorer (as long as the snow on the road isn't over 3 inches).

Had a 2006 Carrera 4 which I traded for my current S550 4matic AMG. Wife and I both loved that car as a date car and you can't beat the look of the wide body. Totally comfortable as a daily driver and alot of fun to drive. Sometimes I really miss that car.
Go with the C4S. CL is too similar to your E in my opinion.

That's a 'to each his own' position and I respect that. The 996 Turbo engine is basically bulletproof. I don't know what engine the 997 C4S uses, but the 996 C4S engine had major issues.

The 997 4S/2S does not have the legendary GT1 engine that the TT, GT3/2 has.
I still say get the C2S. You live in So Cal. While it's not as wide as the c4S or TT, it's not a "narrow body" like it used to be.

Made a decision..... finally...... Her she is......
Decided to go for the C4S. Enjoying it so far. Weekend car. Have been making some cosmetic mods thus far. Love the driving experience and the power is more than adequate. My E63 has a new 'friend'

As a former c4 owner- I can tell you that the c4s is highly underpowered. The awd system is a waste of money imo- I'd go tt porsche or look into something else since you already have the e63, the cl is too much like it.
OOPS, should have read the latest post- beautiful car!

Gorgeous, congrats. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
You made the right choice too IMO, the CL would have been too redundant with the E63, and it seems the E fills your desires, so what better way than to fill in some new/different ones.
I gotta say, the 996 TT VS 997 decision would be a tough one!
