I'm strangely a lil disappointed too. With all the talk about how much power you can get out of these lil things with minor mods, they should be FLYING. I'm personally not too worried. I was running that time with my old set up. I won't/can't say that I'm faster just yet, but I'm pretty sure I can't beat that time the next time I'm at the track...

Your worst nightmare...
I think the 60 footers are hurting them a lilttle bit. If they drop to 1.6x...you might see a low 11 pass. Trap speed seems to be consistant 124-125 not bad.

WTF is wrong with this picture? Most cars with that power level would easily be touching low 11's. Not enough tire? 18's and 315's should do the trick here.

It needs bigger meats - the torque is so instant its hard to get good 60's. Theres even an mb owner on the forums that has one and even he's saying the torque makes it difficult. This is evident in the video's of the V vs. the m5 where it just lurches on every shift past the M.....

Agree and really is drag racing the only measure?? How would this car fare against the beloved AMG in a roll race? Where are the TQ and HP curves on this car? I can only imagine they are strong.

I think traction issues. Car should have some serious power.

lol...i'd love to run one of those down the strip!

unfortunately, i haven't seen or heard of any cts-v doing as well in the 1/4mile as their dyno numbers would suggest (which was my point in the other thread). i'd think by now at least one of them would have been owned by a decent driver. i keep thinking we just need to give them more time but idk anymore...

Just like the M5's and 6's... terrible at the strip but from a roll to 180 stock vs stock, its lights out...

Different cars for different tasks.

I'll keep you guys updated when I mod my car to similiar power levels.

I just ran a forum member's modded '03 RS6 from a roll. We were neck and neck till about 110 or so where he pulled half a length on me and seeemed to keep that gain. We went up to about 145. Not sure how it performs from 145-180+. The RS6 hasn't been tracked yet so I don't know exact specs, but it is one fast **** and I was pretty impressed with how my car faired. Videos to come soon. One thing I noticed was how hard it was to get off perfect shifts in manual mode. Thinking back, I should have put it in manual into the right gear, then when racing switch it back to auto mode. Oh well.

The C6 Z06 has 11.5" rear wheels. The CTS-V which has about 100 more torque has 9.5" rear wheels. Definitely needs more grip to get off the line.

I'm sure it's a matter of time before the CTS-V gets into the 10 second range. The amount of hp it will take though is really the question. The E55 is a 1/4 mile legend. That car is just a freak on the 1/4 mile and always will be. The CTS-V seems like it is sort of a jack of all trades. Can hang on twisties with M5's and go high speeds, but has the low end torque to ward off AMG's.

As I get more experience with my car (and more horsepower) I will let you all know how it goes on the streets and track.

..since you're an auto what you were supposed to do to get the best performance was....

suspension on Tour
Auto shifting on Sport
Hit trac button 1 time for trac off yaw on

if you had the trac on or was shifting manual than thats why you got beat.

Oh and importantly how many miles do you have ? The motor doesnt really get broken in untill about 1k-2k miles. Prior to that its scary slow.

900 miles lol. If it gets stronger as it breaks in then great!

This was a highway roll at the top of 2nd gear, not from the dig. That's why I had to go into manual mode.

Also, this guy currently has the fastest S4 in the world. He is very well known and respected in the Audi community. He tunes cars and makes sure they are at their max potential. It had no exhaust (cut right off the downpipe) and you could hear the turbos from a mile away. Far from stock.

Edit: also, I left suspension on sport because we were taking some nasty turns and with the nasty road conditions in Mexico, I wasn't taking any chances.

Henessey is getting just what he planned from his Video. Marketing and more marketing!

Facts: I did not see a dyno or RWHP number for that car. Just says 650 package or HP. So, that is a rounded up HP pacakge name, just for marekting. IMO

2) Henessey owns that track and his shop is located on that track. He can test run any time he wants, dyno on site and exhibits some of the best auto marketing around.

3) Based on those mods, the weight of the car and MPH,, it was making around 500RWHP on that cold day. Yes, the grass is dead and that means winter here in Texas. Could be a minus 2000 DA day.. If you owned a track, wouldn`t run on the best days?? Low hum. , 30.70 baro and 15% hum.????

Either way, nice run for a caddy. Little more traction and 11.2 is in its future.

PS, it also sounded like the mid range RPM tune is off.

Yea it def picks up power over the initial mileage. I would really suggest a tune from w4me for the auto - from what i heard it really makes it how it should have come from the factory. I have a stick so i dont have to worry 'bout it. Coming from a jeep srt8 and all the b.s. factory auto trans babysitting going on I made sure not to have to deal with that again.

Agreed. I already spoke to Jesse. I'll keep you updated on that bro.

And yes, autos can be a real pain in the ***. I just didn't want my big luxury caddy to have stick. Sometimes I let girls or family members drive it and the thought of them burning my clutch would get me sick. The Tremec tranny is badass. I loved it on the Z06. I just would like to save a manual tranny for a true sports car as this is more of a luxury sedan. But I do miss stick and sometimes wish for it.

Bobby:

I am shocked by the outcome of your race. The RS6 (which I had for a little over year) really ran out of steam up past 100mph. The poor aerodynamics and AWD were too debiliitating. Even if they are tuned they will run out of steam fairly quickly above 100mph. There is one custom tuned RS6 out there running 118+mph traps but most tuned RS6's are running in the 113-116mph range. I would think the CTS-V would start pulling on the tuned RS6 above 110mph..

As far as the Hennessey car is concerned, it was running 20" Nitto D/R's which are super tall and will not grip like a good set of 18" M/T's (as Cylinder Head suggested). I think the CTS-V is capable of a lot more.

Yeah dude, I was thinking I'd have a better chance up top but no, we were dead even and on the shift (I think 4-5th) he started to gain about half a car. A reason for this may be the shifting. It short shifts and in manual mode, on a shift you can feel and hear the hesitation. Like I said, I should have switched it back into auto mode which may have allowed it to shift quicker and at redline with no drama. Oh well, it was mad fun. Also, the guy I raced is a nut and goes ***** out on his car so who knows. We'll have a re-match when I get the tranny shifting how I see fit

That is funny!! He is the dude who is trapping 118+mph with custom tune.

With that said....your stock CTS-V actually did very well!

He beat a 600whp Evo and has beat some other pretty insane cars. Also, that vid is old and he is constantly tuning that car. I know he recently re-tuned the tranny after we tried doing a rolling race following that 1/4 mile run in Mexico.
