some throttle body info
This could be old news to some, but new to others. I know some of you know that the 82mm throttle body of the 550's is an option when looking for a larger throttle bady. Today as I was fiddling around the shop, we had an Audi S4 V8 in for some work. Turns out the S4 V8 (want to say it was a 2004-2005) has a Bosch 82mm throttle body identical to the Mercedes, even the plug.
So I hit ebay and they are all over the place for round the $200 range. Just wanted to share this with you guys if you are in the market for a throttle body. You still have to come up with a way to mount it though. Heck maybe I will bust out AutoCAD and have a mounting plate machined out.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Anyway just some FYI, happy modding.

Out Of Control!!
I noticed that when I pulled an RS6 motor, I thought I posted that. I think there were some slight differences. Next time I am at my friends house I will compare the MB 82mm tb with the Audi one

Ahah .. I knew that you were looking for some new finding
![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
... and you got a Bosch pn 0 280 750 003 for the Audi ?
I m also looking into these throttle bodies but not easy:
1- for the 550 engine (motor 273.960) I found an MB pn 2731410325 but I think it cannot be a 82mm TB as it is shared by too many other smaller models , so maybe I found the wrong number
![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
and i cannot find Bosch pn for the 550 TB
2- then, the V12 TT has a pn 2751410625 but we already know for sure it is a 78/80 mm
(btw, its Bosch pn is 0280750125 )
there also a newer pn for the V12 TT but in any case it is not a 550 engine
Indeed I was looking for something bigger

![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
EDIT: the Bosch pn is the same as for the SL 476HP ... so it should be 74mm only !)
... if Bosch had a catalogue showing diameter spec, that would be fun

82mm MB TB P/N A 273 141 03 25
Bosch P/N 0 280 141 03 25 sure of this or maybe 0280 750 182 ?
Don't say I never gave you anything... and you're welcome![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Port the sc inlet, make an adapter and bolt it on. Should plug in with original wiring. You might wanna get a retune though lol

really is it .. it is considered suitable for 203-204 and 209 series also !

Is there any concrete data on the benefits of the larger TB's?
I have a hard time believing MB put a smaller one than optimum for the SC.
There's a lot to be said for importance of velocity with intakes vs volume.
Just thinking out loud here ... would love to see some data.

Will the 82mm fit on the 80mm Inlet housing? I think my 80mm TB shorted out and I need to get something quick. Need an inspection but can`t keep the TB working right.
A welded adaptor plate, would be the best. I found from my last adaptor that potential air leaks are common. Then you get the idle control error all the time.
What is the part number for the 80mm TB , that you do not need to switch the wires on?

Though I could be wrong. I believe it will also require a new intake to match the overall dimensional changes beyond just an 82mm mount.
Is there any concrete data on the benefits of the larger TB's?

Ignoring the other issue being discussed, you can compare the custom PC tune to the PC tune 82mm on the dyno chart for the results of a larger TB on the 55k motor.

Hey Hooley,
Whats the opening on the intake manifold itself? Do you know exactly in mm? just curious to see exactly what the opening is because that would serve as a limitation to just how big you can go.
btw, older V12 TBs are not that big (if you are referring to the M120s) b/c they used two throttle bodies, once for each cylinder bank. If I am not mistaken they were somewhere 64-68mm, definitely not 74mm+.
