Replacing 3rd brakelight LEDS
A few of mine went out. Anyone know how to replace them?

you have to replace the whole light bar.
remove paneling on the trunk and you will have assess to it.

what exactly needs to be removed? and do I need to go to the stealership for a new light bar?

the cloth panel on the trunk lid. yes you make have to buy it from the dealership

Yeah i'm about to get that today. I've already replaced the 03-06 LED lightbar now 2 times, in the past 5 months... I thought LEDs are suppose to last a lifetime...

I'll let you know on the price in the next 2 hours. I'm thinking the same thing that it's drawing too much current because it's the leftside of the light bar that has gone out again twice... than again i never replaced the outside light piece when i changed them so maybe there is a crack on the actual brake cover (the red part haha!) and it has let water in... because it worked for awhile til one of my buddies pointed it out to me yesterday.

Just got back from the stealership, the price is the same for the newer LED brake unit. The part number is A2118201456. The price in NJ is $185 USD plus tax...

I tried to get it replaced through my 3rd party warranty (easycare) and I was told wear and tear parts like light bulbs weren't covered

Just got mine replaced today - they did it free at the stealership. They gave me the old light and there had been water entry. My guess is that there is a dodgy seal if this is a common problem as the LEDS themselves should outlast the car.
