New guy to the E63 Game in OC
Been a member here for a while and was eye-balling an e55 for a bit but decided to get an 09 E63 when the dealer offered over 35k off of the sticker. I was wondering if you guys ever get together in OC to share your enthusiasm for your rides or to compare Mods, etc?
Is there anything I can do for performance or exhaust sound with this car? I am coming from the Corvette community where we had a ton of options. I checked out Renntech but its a bit steep.
I have about 700 miles on her right now, does the engine get stronger with mileage?

Hi Greg. I am a new E63 owner in the OC as well. I will be picking up my car next week as it has undergone some custom interior CF work. I would love to meet up w/ you and anyone else next week/weekend. Where did you get yours?

35k off MSRP is pretty good. That means you paid only around 60K for a new '09? Damn, esp at a Fletcher Jones dealership. What was the invoice price? I was there back in April and the best they said they could do was 9k off invoice which would have been about 18k or so off MSRP, iirc. (I didn't buy from them)
There was a sponsor selling a new one here for 20k off invoice just a few days ago.
RobDoc, did you get 35k off MSRP? I should have waited until now.
They must be taking big hits at 35k off. They still had to pay for the car. They probably could have auctioned it off for more (?)

35K off an '09 is unheard of and certainly not even close to what the cars are offered at around the internet. Congrats on a super deal. Would like to see some pics and also options. Sounds like a performance package car like Rob's.

how is 26.5K off over 35K off????
Anyways, I have an 05 C6 vette. You will enjoy the E63. It will outperform the vette in every category including handling. The C6's are scary bad handling. They look cool though lol.

I am at Cars and Coffee at least every other week.
It is definitely an eye-candy store. But you have to be there at 7 am to see all of the cars and at least 6:30 am to show your car off.

Welcome to the AMG family..... you will love the E63, it's an awesome work of engineering ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The engine will noticeably get stronger after the 4,000 mile mark (or at least that's what happen with my car). Right now, there is not much you can do in terms of power, but as time passes, the tuners are constantly figuring out more ways to squeeze more power of these relatively new engines.
Basically, the two proven power adder options are:
1) ECU Tune + Shorty Headers = 40 rwhp gain
2) ECU Tune + Long Tube Headers = 60 rwhp gain
The numbers stated above are for 91 octane tunes. If you chose 93 or 98 or even 100 octane, you'll see better gains. There is a carbon fiber air box made by Carbonio that supposedly adds 15 hp or so, but has not been proven on dyno or track yet. RennTech is in the process of releasing their carbon fiber air boxes and they also claim about 15 hp to be proven on the dyno. Other mods that add some power are light weight reductions: light weight rims, rotors, etc....
In terms of sound, you can try different combination of resonator delete, cat delete, x-pipe, h-pipe, etc.... until you get a sound you like.
Do a lot of research on the companies before committing, as this is an expensive car. Don't hesitate to ask through PM as some info is not readily available.
Good luck and enjoy your new beast

Fuzzy math, it was a good deal even at $71.5. Wish I could get one at that.

Welcome to the e63 crowd. As these have been out for a few years now there is starting to be some good mods around. Since I was new to the e63 when they first hit the scene it was a LOT of trial and error with modding, but the 63 is really a great engine.
Anyway wish i coudl meet up with all of you guys on the west coast, but a little too far to drive out![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Anyways, yes as you break in the car after a few thousand miles you should notice the car gets faster.
Also keep in mind all mods for these cars are expensive. Gotta pay Mucho to play![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Welcome again!

Thanks for the welcome guys!
Thanks for the warm welcome all! I have had a love affair with AMG for a while now. The biggest difference for me is in the transmission. I cannot believe how smooth this thing goes through the gears, even with its monstrous torque! I really do love this car! I was worried I would miss my Corvette, but this car makes it easy to forget.
Now, if I could just squeeze a little more power out of her.....hahaha
