Many will tell you the oily rag filter is the best.

If you search, you will find hundreds of posts on this subject over a 7 year span.

You won't find any legit evidence of a "best" filter for the E55. Best bet is to try a few and see what you like best, and which gives you the beast piece of mind in its filtering abilities.

I personally use K&N filters.

That works well, but the intake tends to suck the rag into the engine, slowing the action of the intake valves. I find the oil-bath filter from a 1955 Mopar works well, and does the best job of filtering.

However, using an oil-bath filter raises the question of which oil is best for oil-bath filters.
