IPOD?

If the car is purchased with the stock IPOD integration, does it navigate through the center console radio or does it navigate through the instrument cluster?
I purchased a OE integration kit and had it installed (but not through Benz) and the installer said that it can only operate throught the instrument cluster.
Was wondering if this was the case if it was purchased as a stock item.
Thanks guys.

True, it can only operate through the instrument cluster.
The only thing you do I-Pod related on the center head unit is
select AUX and set the bass, treble, fader, balance & sound.

I am really displeased with the ipod integration sound quality.
Some music sounds great some doesnt,
i have the benz i pod amp, sounds better without it but the sound is to low.
i can play with the volume setting thru the wheel which helps depending on hte music.
It seems that the recording levels must somehow be different in hte ipod itself, ifi put the eq on pop setting like they recommend it really sounds like ****.
I had to turn the EQ to off for best sound

OJAMG,

You may want to check the bit rate you music is recorded at.
If you use I-Tunes it is easy to check. Select a song that sounds bad (in car) in your music library, and from the menu select "get info" make a note of the bit rate. then do same for a song that sounds good. If the bit rate is higher in the song that sounds good, then that could be your problem. I try to use at least 128.
