There is another idea to insulate heat from the plastic airbox which is creating a layer from below using materials that when dry it makes like cement (hard) layer. It is possible to apply thin layer that would be a good mod.

I am planning to put the high temperature tape on the airbox filters below and up to insulate heat and hoping that will make better performance.
my air boxes are insulated from the bottom.

Applying DEI Reflect-A-Gold tape will eliminate any radiant heating. It should be applied to the intake tubes and the outside of the air boxes. This material is used in everything from rockets to F1 cars. See for yourself - - - apply it to your air boxes and the hold the air box an inch or so above the burner on an electric cook top - - - DON'T TOUCH IT TO THE COOK TOP SURFACE! The material will reflect more than 90% of the radiant heat. DO NOT TRY THIS WITH AN OPEN FLAME!

those arent wrapped with heat stuff, its cloth to absorb residual water that may get sucked through the intake, the 05 c230 with the m271 engine has the same thing
