2003 E55 AMG
Another new E55 Owner

Hello,

MB newbie here.
Moving from my 2001 E39 M5 to a 2003 E55 (my 1991 E34 M5 is also up for sale).
Only Merc I've ever owned was a 2006 Vito , a real unreliable POS.
My research tells me the E55 is related in badge only
Mine is a metallic charcoal car with charcoal leather. Got the E63 coloured rims (18"). 60 000 miles on the clock. Still want to tint the windows and paint the chrome grill black.

Got a lot of questions:
1) Does the Compressor run in the engine oil?
2) How long do the above last - bearings and compressor rollers?
3) Routine maintenance other than drive belt changes
4) How often do you recommend changing the gearbox oil?
I assume a good synthetic ATF is required? How many L? Leaning towards Castrol Transmax Z
5) What about diff oil? also put in a good synthetic, I'm thinking Castrol SAF-XJ? How many L?
5) Can one buy a manual oil dip stick? If so, I assume from the stealers?
6) Typically, how many km/miles are you guys doing between services?
7) Besides tyres, filters and oil, what are the main service consumables?
8) Does the charge cooler run its own dedicated water system? I assume one should run 50% antifreeze?
9) What kind of tank to tank consumption are you getting. This with moderate driving?
10) Worth doing a Xenon bulb upgrade to the inner driving light H7 globes?

appreciate the input
