CLS vs E55 gearing?

Hi again ...

I know... I'll stop with this soon.

Found a EGS module supposedly for a SL55 but seller says it came out of a AMG CLS... ??

Is the CLS gearing the same as the E or the SL?

No word from any of the tuners yet in getting my module sorted out yet.

CLS gearing is the same as E class.

their modules can, in principle, accept the 2.82 SL gearing but you need to select a different parameter, as I already told in the other 3d.

SL tcu is 035 545 1632

but, again, first best bet is to find an SL55 owner willing to let you swap his tcu and see if asks for a vin synch or not ..

if it asks for vin synch, you'll need a DAS developer in any case because normal DAS can make vin synch only from a new virgin module. AFAIK !

.. but you have also the chance that it could work without doing anything !

what are the pros and cons of changing to the 2.82 SL gearing?

anybody out there who have 2 AMG 211E55 or 1 211E55 and 1 CLS55 willing to swap their TCU modules and see if they work without any need of VIN synch ?

should the outcome be positive, swapping to 2.82 ratio could become something really easy !

...for those who love shorter gears

Hmm I was given 034 545 15 32... from MB off a SL55 VIN?

I think Ill drive to kleemann and let them work it out... they dont answer any mails!

Also I dont have DAS (at least not one thats working)...

Working without doing anything sounds way to simple for MB ...

re:

.. not true: you indeed worked hard swapping your differential with SL's one!

I believe a better mid range acceleration and higher Vmax. Out of the hole potentially slightly worse because of traction problems - but hopefully Quaife will help in that regard. MKB and a bunch of euro tuners offer it as a complete kit. I did the diff part myself and trying to sort out the software now.

Kleemann came back and will do the software for $800 - seems a bit steep for only fiddling with a few parameters. Its quite a bit more than the whole diff cost!

I'll dig around and mbe convince my friend with the SL55 to lend me his EGS for a short while.

It seems the ECU and EGS need to be synched up one way or another.

if you tried to plug an SLR's TCU ... no wonder it was not plug n play

that one does not have the 2.65 ratio embedded, while SL55 tcu, does.

do you have a pic of the M1-M2 switch in SLR ?
