Thats too much $ for it

I got my 03 @ 116K for $16500 + taxes/fees in February. For what you're looking to pay, I've seen 05s with milage in the 70s. You might have to be patient and stalk a good deal for a few months.

Well my original post made more sense before you listed the options, at least its well equiped so part of the cost is justified.

How do you feel inheriting someone else's taste in mods?

to be honest, you can tell the car has been taken care of, and it was done the right way ( no hack jobs, if you know what i mean). I dont mind the mods to much.

I am more of a function over fashion kinda guy but, i dont mind wheels and susp..

If you like the mods then maybe but, you never get the money you put in a car back so in the same sense you shouldn't expect to pay for someone else's mods. You should be able to get it under $20k with those miles. (Think of it 20k plus 2k for warranty, now you're back where you started.) If the seller wants the money for the mods he should put it back to stock and sell the parts separate. I'm not trying to say that it can't be tastefully done or anything, just that you can probably get it cheaper. Either way you're going to fall in love with the car and probably try to cuddle with it every night.

'06 E55 K2
Having just been through this ordeal. I would buy the newest and lowest possible mileage car you can afford. There are distinct disadvantages with an '03 as it is the first model year for the W211 E55 (lack of transmission coolers etc).

Prices are all over the map currently and I am sure there is a good selection of cars in FL (FL has some sweet cars!). I say keep looking, unless this one has you awake at night and is whispering your name.

As an aside I bought a CPO '06 with 46K miles for $38K and it just recently went through over $5000 of warranty work. If I had to pay for the warranty out of pocket I could not afford it that is on top of the brand new brakes, tires and service the MB Dealer did ($2800 of work) just before I purchased the car...so in a month of ownership the car has received almost $8,000 worth of work!!!

If you buy one of these cars out of warranty you better set aside additional money for repairs and make sure you understand what the Chrysler warranty covers and does not cover.
Good luck,
Yasin

listen to these people!

read a few threads on here and you will find that most, if not all, of the people that mod their cars drive the snot out of them. Street racing, legal drag strip, track days, 150mph sprints in "Mexico", etc, etc, etc.. I'm not trying to bash them for doing so (except for the street racers), but it's an extra amount of wear and tear that would have me running in the other direction. Even if it was whispering my name at night...

I would look for the car that gramma drove, as long as her last name is not Muldowney.

Not a good move, you can find 04s less than 40k miles for $27k same fact options.
Too many good clean (garage kept) low mile, fully loaded, non modded, adult owned, pristine E55s out there to fool around with one that has 100K miles.

^^^ well said.. I purchased 1 modded car in the past, i was thinking "hey its already modded the price is right, less work for me." But the reality of it was that, it was somebody elses project. I had to call him for everything, and he left alot of things undone/sloppy. It wasn't worth it in the long run...

2004 E55 AMG
Just so you know you're not going to be getting a Chrysler warranty if the car has over 80k on it, unless they have a secret program I don't know about. Something to keep in mind, as the Easy Care or whatever the dealer sells(if they'll even cover a car with that many miles) will run you at least 2-3 times as much as the Chrysler warranty.

FWIW, I paid $24,500 for a 2004 with 62k back in May, from a dealer.

I would agree. Seems to be a risky move but if you fall in love with her,(if you haven't already) it won't matter what any of us tell you.
Way too much money though, the mods dont make up for the miles.

This is the issue I think. If you tell them it's still under the factory warranty, the calculator isn't going to look at the miles. I know the two plans I saw were one price for anything under 60k, no inspection, and then a higher price for 60k to 80k with a required inspection.
