I've ordered my car with distronic (also keyless go, E1, phone, COMAND). I'm curious what experiences folks have had with distronic. It's pricey but I have only used my E55 so far for highway cruising.

I travel on I95 between Petersburg VA and Phila. about once a month. At night there is instant on radar in VA, then lasar in MD. I do a lot of that with the cruise on because you can't spot the traps. When I do the trip during the day I haul ***. I've hit the speed limiter (159 mph) on I85 in southern VA when there was no other traffic on a Sunday morning. I got a ticket for 100 in a 65(that was with him cutting me a break about 1 1/2 years ago at night. There were no cars around me, but the next car in front of me was a Va trooper in a marked car.

Distronic is really a personal preference option. That option excites some and some it does not. Advise - Get it if you want it.

Yeah MD & VA or two of the most notorious speed ticket states in the country.

I have been attacked with lasar twice on I95 southbound, just north of DC. Each time they were sitting in the median. Without a CB or mobile scanner, there is no way to avoid that type of trap that I know of. All the lasar detector does is let you know why you are being pulled over. Fortunately I wasn't way over either time.

I had Distronic on my 2003 SL500 sport, it works great, better than I thought it would and works flawless with the new electro-hydralic brake system.

With that said I did not order it on my SL55 AMG, the three reasons I did not order it on SL55

1. On the SL55 it changes the Star in the Grill

2. I will not be using this car for long trips all the time, and when I do take it on a trip I want to Drive this car.

3. Price, I am building a new home and $3000.00 will go on some kind of upgrade to the home (keep the wife happy)

But when I buy a new everyday car I will order Distronic for sure!

The system is impressive if its set at 80MPH and traffic slows to 10MPH it will take you all the way down and then back up again.

You MUST STILL Pay Attention when you use the system it does not react as well as a human in emergency stop!!!
