Open or closed carrier?

For open- these guys have the best review on www.transportreviews.com

http://www.angelstransport.com/

I was working with another company that I gave 2 months notice that I needed my car moved. Needless to say, a week before the move they still did not have a carrier for me. I called these guys and within 20 minutes they had a carrier, pickup time, price, etc. and followed up with me several times along the way to make sure everything was going smoothly.

They are a top notch broker.

Intercity Lines, Inc.

Used them serveral times before with good results and their rates are very competitve.

Before they load your car in one of their enclosed 18-wheelers they do a before and after thorough inspection.

I used InterCity to ship my 996 from WA to OH. Handling of the car was top notch once it finally happened. However they were quick to take my money and slow to respond using Barett Jackson as an excuse.

While I was OK with a delay as it was communicated up front it took me twice as long to get the car as they stated it would. (6.5 weeks).

+1 on Angels Transport. Earlier this year, I shipped my car from the SF Bay Area to Charleston, SC with zero issues. And just yesterday, I just received my Yamaha R6 that was shipped from Charleston to SF Bay Area which was shipped in a closed carrier. Aside from a slight delay in delivery, there were again no issues.

Angels kept in touch the whole time...as did the carriers they used. They may not be the cheapest but I have had good experience with them thus far.

I have used only enclosed transports and I have dealt with Fedex Passport, Horseless Carriage, and Reliable Auto Carriers(big orange trucks). I have had top notch service from all three and will only use them from here on out. That goes for clients cars also. I would stay away from brokers personally, as I have found if you pay a little more in the beginning for a reputable carrier, you will probably save yourself thousands in heartache if your baby comes back damaged. Just my 2 cents.

I too have used Horseless Carriers to get a car from Arizona to NY. It was a little under $2K and they got the car to me in under 1 week. I was very happy with their service and would definately recommend them.

The three I recommended will all give you a quote online or over the phone. If you need a liftgate to handle a lowered vehicle(all of mine have) you should tell them. I shipped a BMW about 9 months ago and paid $1610 from Oakland to Chicago via a liftgate semi owned by Reliable Auto Carriers. I think it was cheaper than flying out there, and driving it back by the time I factor fuel, food, and lodging.

I second the vote for FedEx Passport. They ran a slick operation and I had my car from Chicago to Boston 5 days after I called them (other carriers promised 10 days). I think it was about $1,500.

I feel like I should give these guys a plug since they did such a good job for me:

Concours Auto Transport

Only enclosed, but they were very quick, allowed items to be packed into the car and most of all, were accomodating with a non-running project (engine swap) car. Cost just under 2k coast to coast, with friendly service at both ends. I shopped around a good bit, and they were the cheapest rate I found....this was in the last 3 months to give you an idea of the market.

If you go with Gary Almond and Almond Exotic Transport - you'll be dealing with the owner / driver with daily phone updates.

Not a big operation, but a good one. You won't be disappointed.

I used exotic car transport. Enclosed trailer from Atlanta to NJ..$824. I gave them 2 day notice and it was transported in only 22 hours. This is the second time I used them and entirely professional group. It helps when a bright yellow truck pulls up with ferraris and lambos painted on it and the neighbors are drooling! LOL

I recently shipped my ``06 E55 from Jacksonville, FL to Houston, TX in an enclosed carrier for $950. Delivery took one week and went flawlessly. Here's who I used:

Mach 1 Transportation
Jon Grombach
847-791-9558

Remember, many of the recommended shippers in this thread are brokers, all basically offering transportation on the same few trucks that specialize in covered auto transport. As I was price shopping between Angels, Mach 1 and a couple of others, I realized that all four were in touch with the same truck driver who would actually be loading, transporting and delivering my car. I saved myself over $1100 by making four phone calls and got the same exact product. Just an FYI.

Reliable Carriers was great

I used them to ship my ML350, 300c, and 323i from San Diego, CA to IL. About 1600 per car. They took very good care of the cars. The truck and trailer were spotless and the driver was professional. The cars got there in 2.5 days.

If you use Angels Transport, make sure and request that they do not let Pioneer handle the car. Pioneer ended up moving my M5. It took 2 weeks to deliver, they asked me to meet them 1 hour away from my house for a discount of $50 (seriously) but the worst was they had incorrectly tied down the front of the car. Thus my $3k neez wheel had a nice chunk out of it. And they refused to pay for the repair or the replacement of the wheel. I like Angels, but was upset that they did not stand behind their customer. So, now I mainly use Bravo or Horseless Carriage.
