and what is your point? I ran into couple 10 second cars like honda ****ics or old mustangs, those are not best bang for a buck. I didn't say that Evo's are slow.

My point is that we are talking about performance cars, that offer the best bang for the buck. Meaning the maximum performance return for the least amount of money invested. A Lancer Evolution is absolutely on the list and for you to call it a rice rocket just shows how misinformed you are.

I haven't read through all of the posts, and of course I'm biased, but I vote for the 2005-2006 SL600, if 50K is your ceiling.

I just purchased a pristine 2005 SL600 w/ 12,500 miles and warranty until 2013 or 82K total miles for $45,500.00

The car is an engineering marvel. How can something this beautiful, this heavy, be this damn fast? And if you've never had the opportunity to feel top down, V12 twin turbo nirvana, I highly recommend it. It's insane how smoothly this car's giddy up is. I've driven a handful of 55K cars, but honestly guys, they don't feel anything like a V12TT.

Today was a cool morning in DC. I was cruising at 35 mph and dropped the hammer, with traction control on. The tires screeched in pain all the way to 70+mph. The traction control tried it's best to contain the torque and the wheelspin came in bursts but when those snails spool up, you better be awake.

My friend used to own evo 8 that was running in mid 11's. It is hell to drive them in traffic or have them as an everyday car, I didn't drive them but thats what he told me, it is fun for first 6 months. Again, I know that Evo's can be fast, not that reliable, but we are talking about difference level cars. I agree with Benz-o-Rama, cl/sl600 is money right now.

I have owned 4-5 EVO's in various states of modifications. None of which were any trouble to drive in daily bumper to bumper traffic. An 11 second EVO is basically stock. EVO's are very reliable, handle like carts, and make a ton of power, when moded correctly. A properly setup EVO will run circles around pretty much anything named in this thread except for a purpose built Supra or 996T.

Yes its just that good. 600whp EVO's are becoming fairly commin. Combined with its light weight and AWD makes it a very deadly combo, just like the 996T. I realize we all drive Mercedes Benz automobiles and we all love them. Personally i refuse to wear Benz blinders. I will not assume that my little E55 or CLS55 is the greatiest performance car since sliced bread. Considering the quickest and fastest example is still an 11 second car, Now back on topic.

No you went off topic calling cars rice and giving your personal opinion about a given brand that had nothing to do with the topic. Let me refresh your memory regarding the question that is being asked. No specific class of car has been requested.

The GT500 with Kenne Bell blower is going to be just as fast (if not faster) running drag radials as those EVOMS GT660s and come within budget.

GT500's are not even in the same category as the 996tt, z06, or many of the other cars mentioned here. I love the way they sound but that's it. Ford hasn't done anything right (except the previous body style cobra and of course the GT) for decades.

I have a 96 eclipse that will MAKE you respect it. I can't believe you're so blatently blind to performance. Bang for the buck, you can NOT beat dsm's or their younger brothers (the 4g63 evos). But I do agree that these cars once again are not in the same category and almost surely not being considered by someone posting in this forum about z06's and amg's.

Guys, give me a freaking break! What is it, a jdm invasion? I didn't say that Mitsus are slow, they are just in different categories, it is not that difficult to make a rice rocket from jdm car, there are bunch of them that run 10's or may be even 9's in DC metro area. We are just talking here about two different things.

No, I don't hate JDM cars, I own st-185 celica with 3s-gte conversation as a track car. Just OP was asking about luxury high perfomance cars

Anyhow, back on topic. OP- throw the s5 out of the equation if you want a performance car. They are heavy and slow with almost no tuning potential.

True...the Z06 and 996TT are well rounded sports cars. However, I don't share your opinion. The GT500 has pretty decent resale value, looks pretty good (my opinion), very, very easy to mod to insane levels of power and is actually as rare if not rarer than the other cars mentioned. I see way more Z06s and 996TT than I do GT500s and we live in the same area.

I have I got pulled by a lightweight 2.3L stroker Evo but it blew up before we hit the speed the race was to, does that mean I win? lol

And to answer the OP's question. The best bang for under $50k is Megan Fox

You sir, are a tard.

I would lop off an ear for just one night with that minx. You know how married people have a top 5 list of people that, if given the chance, their spouse would have to let them bang out? Well, Megan Fox is at the top of mine and my wife's list. You've seen my wife. Could you imagine that?
