radio keeps muting
hey guys, i have an 05 e55 and lastnight my radio kept muting itself. ive had it go out before and i brought it in and they changed the gateway for the radio and everything has been great for 2 months. not to mention that m lights on the steering wheel were blinking, another problem i brought it in for and was fixed for a while now. anyone has any suggestions? i havent searched if anyone else has had this problem either. i figured the muting was something uncommon. any help would be great. thanks

My '05 has muted itself and will not unmute. I have the itronic bluetooth/ipod installed. I have uninstalled it, checked all fuses, removed comand, unhooked everthing but cannot get it to unmute. All functions work on command and cd's look like they're playing (time goes up) but no sound.
Any ideas?
thanks

You guys could have one speaker in the car that is shorting out or is about to blow causing the factory amplifier to just shut off. That's usually the case in the aftermarket world.

yeah loop is closed. I unplugged the itronic while comand was on and it froze up. When I plugged the optical cable plug back into the itronic comand started working again.
It did this once or twice in the past few months but I figured it was linked to bluetooth muting for calls. At this point though it wont unmute for anything. I can even call my house from the bluetooth and hear the phone ringing/answering machine but get nothing through my speakers. Just that little mute icon down near the bottom of the screen mocking me. LOL.

Figured I should update here since it's been fixed.
I failed to mention, the morning after the radio muted, when I started the car I had "reduced convenience features" or whatever that is. So I left the car home and charged the battery all day. Drove the car the next day with fully functional features but still no sound from the stereo. When I went to leave work at 2am the reduced features were back. Bought a new battery at Advance Auto the next day and viola the stereo is working again. Fine ever since.

Mine did the same thing after having it put away for the winter. Mute in and out. The wrench and the "i" inside the console went red, and the SOS overhead would blink, like it's trying to call for assistance. I disconnected the negative battery cable in the truck, let the alarm wail for about 5 minutes, and reconnected. All is normal since. I hope I didn't just jinx myself helping ya out! lol
