Depends on the season
Warranty and Modding

New to AMG's, just picked one up the other day. An 06 E55 and was thinking about doing some light mods. Are there any companies that deals with Mercedes that will not void warranty with there mods? Like Dinan is to BMW. I heard Renntech was one, but I thought there was another one. I could be way off, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe I should have asked if anyone new of any mod friendly dealers in central/northern jersey?

Our ECU work remains invisible to the dealer, thus maintaining your warranty.

I think you will find they are mutually exclusive.

Nobody has any deal with MB and no mods are covered on an open faced basis, especially nowadays. You asked it right. Find a mod friendly dealership or service department. Get the car checked out under warranty and fix any little nags. Then you mod. The beauty is that there will be a record trail of what you did and what it caused. That way, less chance of getting section 8 as soon as you roll in.

I kind of figured that. My friend has an M5 with Dinan package and everything is still under warranty. I was just hoping that MB had something similar in place

We have no Dinan in MB. Wish we did. RennTech had the chance ages ago as have a few others but all tried to be more luxu than raw tuning. DINAN FTW and an excellent example of what tuners should be.

My local dealership is Renntech mod friendly, most likely because they are local and know them.

Finding a dealer that is actually a vendor as well will for sure keep you covered. It will cost, but honestly it would be worth it. Worst case, try to get your dealer to install the parts. Most wont do that either, so look hard and ask around from friends.

My dealership where I have the car serviced love my mods. They all think I am a bit nuts... all very friendly stuff.

But I have no doubt if I walk in the door with a warranty claim I will be shown the same door post haste, with at most a pat on the back.

As I understand it, MB of Buckhead (in Atlanta, GA) installs and maintains aftermarket performance product with no impact to warranty as long as they are the installer. Obviously, you should check with them to confirm this.

Don't know if there are similar dealers in your area, though.
