My new ride - S6
Hello all. Haven't posted here for a while since I let the E55 go. I still think about her all the time. I haven't driven a vehicle yet that comes close in HP/TQ. However, the S6 is a very nice car. Interior is amazing and it drives pretty good after being modded. So far I am at 350 AWHP / 390 AWTQ. I think the TQ number is a bit high, could have been the type of dyno. I love the Quattro, it allows me to literally floor it on turns without any traction issues. The exhaust really gives the car attitude. Here is the link to how it sounds:

Congrats on the ride! I always had a soft spot for audi's. Definitely miss the AWD at times. Amazing cars IMHO. Well as long as they are under warranty
Exhaust sounds great!

The E63 and the S6 were (ironically) my final two choices when i was back in the market 6 weeks ago. The E63 is definitely more powerful and much more torque that you can actually feel (just my opinion). The interior in the S6 is not that great, my wife has a Q7 and is not much different other than the seats. The factory ride height seems higher. It does sound great even with factory exhaust and it was fun to drive. Not very quiet inside. I was also looking at the A8 and they should have put the all-aluminum construction on the S6, then it would have been almost perfect. I think they are both great cars, just a matter of taste. I do think the E63 is definitely the quintessential "sleeper", very civilzed, but a beast underneath.

I think the luxury and suspension comfort goes to the W211. S6 however looks (on the inside) and feels sportie (response, suspension), but it just doesn't have the power of the E55.

You are correct. I do like the W211 E63 better, but (to me) it didn't feel like a change since I already had a W211 E55. Plus, the new E63 was coming out. I wanted something different. I got a good price on this used S6 and in about a year or two I will be getting another ride. Perhaps another AMG. I buy cars used (2 to 3 years), it allows me to change them quicker.

Well, the numbers I mentioned were to the all four wheels, at crank I'm at around 460 HP. But you are right, it does feel like it is lacking in power after the modded E55. The reason for S6 being were it is at with HP is that there is a 580HP RS6 (only in Europe however). I am sure you guys have seen videos of 700+ HP C6 RS6s.
I knew I would only go down in power from a modded E55 to any other sedan. Now with this S6, I can look forward to moving up again.

What you say does have some merit... there are very little four door choices for us coming from modded E55 that would even come close in power. I thought about the M5, but couldn't see myself dealing with the current SMG box.

A very nice choice, my brother has an '07 S6 in Phantom Black, had ordered an RS4 then had a change of heart worried that it's too small for his growing family. A nice engine coupled to that Quattro transmission.
Congrats.

Very true. I can't find my next sedan. I may end up getting an honest DD and also a toy but then I'll drive it daily (isn't that a DD?) Dilemas!! I'm holding onto the E for another year or 2 max and will be in the E63 soon enough....

I wanted to hang on to the E55, but I rack up around 25-30K a year, so she was already at 90K. The S6 will be a good car for the next few years, and then I will move on to something else more powerful.

MBWorld Fanatic!
While there is no denying that is a very nice car, it does not stir my emtions like a W210 or W211 E55. I do really like Audi's interiors, but their reliability (especially if you are in it for the long haul) it **** poor no matter if you drive a A4 or a S8. The new generic jelly bean exterior does not really make the car stand out and give the car presence unfortunately.
Enjoy in good health.

Same happened to me, I was turning in a VW Phaeton, and an A8 felt like I never traded cars at all...
