Impressions after driving the 2010 E63
The other similar thread got so off topic, I thought I would start a new one.
I went to a car show today, and was pleasantly surprised to see an AMG booth offering free test drives. I got about 15 minutes of drivers seat time in the 2010 E63. While it was not a really long test drive, it included a few really great uphill and downhill hairpin turns, so I got a good indication of the handling.
I have to say the handling felt much better than my 2007 E63. The new car seems much more tossable and balanced than the old one. It felt great. It seemed like the turning radius was smaller too. I whipped a U-turn which seemed much tighter.
I did not notice any significant difference in drivetrain, except for the automatic throttle blipping when downshifting in Manual mode. That was a nice addition since it helps keep the rear wheels from breaking loose. I had hoped that the new tranny and slight boost in power would lead to a noticable increase in speed but my posterior dyno could not detect a change.
I noticed that the drivers seat side bolster auto inflation system is back in this car. It was in my 2003 E55, but gone in my 2007 E63. To me, its not an important feature, but many like it. I was also happy to see that headroom remained ample. I was able to comfortably get my 6'-5" frame into the car with no problem.
I will probably buy one shortly after they arrive at the dealers, assuming there is no markup over MSRP.

I'm still so disappointed MB only upped the horsepower to 515 when it has to compete against the V10 Audi and V8tt M5. It wouldn't have been so bad if they reduced the weight of the E but of course that didn't happen

The main difference I noticed in M was the throttle blipping on downshifting.
