Woah! I feel like Jodi Foster in , The Accused . Damn I'm getting hammered over here. *** HEY, YOU ASKED WHAT WE THOUGHT??? ****
What can I say fellas, I drove the AMG for 2 years and had a complete BLAST - The memories
Will last forever but im giving it up for the new E class which I happen to think looks better than the outgoing model.
Granted it’s a 550 with 382 hp and 390 tq , It doesn’t have the brute power of the AMG but I'm happy about my decision.
Will I miss the car ? I'm sure I will miss the performance and raw power of the beast but in 3 years when my lease is up on the E550, I can purchase
A 2010 pre-owned W212 E 63.. * limping away * lol
AMG RULES, believe me im the biggest fan in the world but I love the new E..

I think your Dale E Sig line says it all, You will no longer be the fastest and you will have to LOSE!!! I would've gone for the new 2010 E63, its gorgeous and FAST!!

I'm not getting the E550 to run out on the road and race, I already did that the past 2 years. I love the fresh new looks of the W212 + new Interior. I already explained that I fully understand the car is not an AMG. The 550 has good enough power. Besides, when my lease is up I can purchase a 3 year old CPO W212 E63.. Well see.

For me, the arrival of our second child 4 weeks ago kicked my practical gene into high gear. And since I don't enjoy driving my wife's Odyssey Touring, I concluded the only way I can drive a car I enjoy when I have the whole famn damily with me is to get something like the GL that will fit all the accoutrement needed for a our 3 1/2 year old daughter and our newborn son...

E550? u should of bought a used S550..for less!!
actually with $900 a month u could own a really nice S550 with amg package and night vision on 20's with change left over
The rear looks generic... I actually thought when driving up to one that is was a new accord....the front looks great though......

Congrats and enjoy it. I had the chance to test drive one at the dealer before getting my S550 and it drives awesome also liked the new interior a lot but i was looking for a much larger, bigger car. Not a fan of the rear but the front is pretty sick. Enjoy it!

2008 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG, 2017 Porsche Macan S
I upgraded from a W211 E550 Sport to my E63 this past Summer.
The 550 was a very nice car, I did get a couple of 13.30 et's from it at time trials this Spring, so it was no slouch; but always left me a bit wanting...for more power, a little better cornering....a little more exhaust sound, etc. Getting the E63 addressed all of those wants quite nicely. Perhaps W212 will address the cornering, but it is around 200lbs heavier than the W211 550 so it likely won't be faster if you care about such things.
Ultimately, all that matters is that you like what you are driving, but be sure to take that 550 out for a test drive before you lease it.

But in the end - it's your choice, and if you're happy, that's all that matters. Congrats! The excitement of a new car, is a good feeling to have.

Worst case, plenty of families get by in cars much smaller than the E

LOL@ this thread!!
To those that have shifting priorities, do what you do. We make fun but in the end, to each his own. I hope you all can take the ribbing in this thread with the grain of salt that comes with being in a pretty technical AMG room.
Back to the fun!!!

I'm a huge fan of MB's gadgetry. I'm curious about lots of the "upgrades", including handling, tranny, ergonomics, etc.
All new E body styles are somewhat rejected by the purist public at first. I dunno why that is, since the newer C and S classes get jumped on from the get go. Anyhow, the E always stands the test of (now 7) years.
First mod......change out the Audiesck fogs...

I kinda like them but what would you suggest ? go back to the circular conventional fogs ? What do you think of the fogs on the W212 E63 ?
