With my lease up on Jan 2010.. I went to my local dealership to speak about possibly lowering the residual of $ 61,000, They explained that it was impossible and also that Mercedes would have to pay even more for th car $ 62,000. He explained that more than likely the car will end up in an auction.
61,000 + NYS tax = 66,337.50 total.. The dealer even told me not to buy it, He explained I can buy the same car much cheaper.

So im sitting there thinking and thinking and THINKING, and decided to walk around the show floor, A white E550 with pano and blk leather was on the floor. The car looked very striking and just so fresh. The lines of the car in person are far better than anything you will see on Internet pics. I actually said to my self, WOW this car is BADASS and has potential. I sat inside and was very impressed with the interior,especially the 3 spoke wheel, WoW, Best wheel ive seen on a Benz. So we sat and negotiated.

Ended up with what I think is a pretty good lease.

I pick up the car on the 30th when I have to sadly return my 63 <-- International Performance Engine of the year award for 2009. Damn Im gonna miss that wicked PWR but Im very happy with my soon to be new car.
How should I spend the last 2 weeks with the 63 ? I dont want to get too crazy and **** things up, you know ? ahah.

Punch it everywhere you go. The 550 will NEVER come as close.

 

You could've bought a nicely optioned E63 at the auction for less than $50k In fact, you could've tracked your car specifically in the auction and bought it for much cheaper than $61k

 

Congrats on the 212, but performance wise it just won't compare. It should please you in every other way though.

 

If you wait MB Financial will write you and lower the residual by about $10,000. I just turned in my car and could have purchased it for $53,000 from MB Financial. The stealer lied to you. In fact, I negotiated a price with the stealer of $54,000 with a CPO but turned it down. Good luck with the new one.

What can I say fellas, I drove the AMG for 2 years and had a complete BLAST - The memories
Will last forever but im giving it up for the new E class which I happen to think looks better than the outgoing model.
Granted it’s a 550 with 382 hp and 390 tq , It doesn’t have the brute power of the AMG but I'm happy about my decision.
Will I miss the car ? I'm sure I will miss the performance and raw power of the beast but in 3 years when my lease is up on the E550, I can purchase
A 2010 pre-owned W212 E 63.. * limping away * lol

AMG RULES, believe me im the biggest fan in the world but I love the new E..

I'm about to give up my E63 as well for a 2010 GL450 that MB Financial pulled ahead 5 months for me to get out of my current lease, so walking out of the E63 early and got a great deal on the GL450, which should arrive in 10 days or so.

Funny....I just extended my lease. Out of curiousity, why pull the trigger on either car now? Why not enjoy the AMG a few more months? The E550/GL550 will still be there....

I share everyone elses curiosity, but if power isn't what you care about then you should be happy. Enjoy it bro.

 

I upgraded from a W211 E550 Sport to my E63 this past Summer.

The 550 was a very nice car, I did get a couple of 13.30 et's from it at time trials this Spring, so it was no slouch; but always left me a bit wanting...for more power, a little better cornering....a little more exhaust sound, etc. Getting the E63 addressed all of those wants quite nicely. Perhaps W212 will address the cornering, but it is around 200lbs heavier than the W211 550 so it likely won't be faster if you care about such things.

Ultimately, all that matters is that you like what you are driving, but be sure to take that 550 out for a test drive before you lease it.

The new E is the hottest car out.. I understand its not an AMG, but you know what ? the 550 has sufficient power, its no slouch and as far as looks are concerned the new E is 10x better. The only issue I had was the tail lights but in person they look so much better and actually they flare out a bit, not flat.. I love the classic W211 but its time has passed.
