V12 TT Gurus:EV12 Intercooling & Intake Question
Hi.
I just discovered The New 800Hp Brabus EV12.
I Would like to have the thoughts of the V12TT Gurus about Two new features the new EV12 has.
1) The Raim-Air Intake . I don't really get it since there are no holes in the hood. any ideas ??
2)Intercooling. In the press kit there is this sentence : "The latter features two custom manifolds with integrated high-performance turbochargers and four water-to-air intercoolers."
FOUR intercoolers.
Can someone look at the engine pic and tell me if those are the stock intercoolers with (maybe) two additional ones...
Any ideas after watching the pic ?? Thanks. Vadim & Vrus your point of view interests me alot.

1) The Air intake is integrated as part of the hood. If you look at a thread lurking around that Oxygen posted you could clearly see the Hood has a scoop in the front part that comes together with the filters making it a tight seal vacum area. Very cool stuff.
2)In terms of the Intercoolers The engine has 2 and the other 2 are overlapped next to the primary ones...you may not see them

there are 4 stock IC cores, 2 in stock position and another two mounted in reverse facing them, the 4 outlets are brought together by a cast "X-pipe" before they enter the TB.

Thanks guys... You've just given me the exact infos I needed.
I have another one : The engine pushes 140 Mkg of torque, but electronically limited to 110.
Is that the max the Gearbox can sustain ?
VRP had a "Bullet Trans " option... Could it be the solution ?
Does too much torque make the car undrivable ??

To me, yes. Also, I think the torque limitation is a combination of drivability and transmission longevity. 1400Nm is not going to get you far off the line in a E class.
You could say the whole 65 series has too much practical torque. Not that I say they have opinions I put much weight in, but the guys on TopGear here (Clarkson in particular) has been on about how impossible it is to put the power down in the souped up 65 series cars. And really I have to agree to some point. For example the SL65 Black - he said it was basically pointless having the power as you cannot get it down on the tarmac. This Brabus car must be much, much worse... but I would not mind driving one to find out for sure.
And then you have to live with the styling.
Nice "ram air" system they got though....

V12-Biturbo
Clarkson though entertaining isn't the final word on 65 AMG TQ, lighting up stock whls/tires on reg city streets from a dig isn't the proper litmus test for these V12 TT's (How bout a freeway roll from 50 mph? TQ feels pretty damn usable their. Also Marko's heavily modded VRP825 CL65 w/912 rwto going down the 1320' @ 10.7x @ near 132mph contradicts ALL Clarkson's sentiments)
The new Brabus EV12 added IC's & ram air look good, but don't seem to add much Crank HP-Crank TQ over their previous claims on older version w/NO Ram-Air & only (2) IC's http://jalopnik.com/5354530/brabus-s...es-super+class
The S class version above doesn't have the seperate (4) Intercoolers or the new Ram-Air, but utilizes the same 6.3 BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo twelve-cylinder engine producing 750 hp / and a peak torque of 1,350 Nm appears the new E V12 gains only 50 BHP but bit more TQ, E V12 features a V12 6.3-liters producing 800 hp and 1420 Nm of torque
I don't know the conversion for Nm of TQ to RWTQ but converting BHP to RWHP is 750 BHP = 615 RWHP & 800 BHP = 656 RWHP using .18% loss = 41 RWHP gain

I hear you ... when I test drove an SL65 I was mightily impressed ... in stock form its amazing ... unfortunately heavy ... but when tuned it must be rediculous...
I have to say traction was a problem , but what I enjoyed most was the tranny wierdly. Super smooth, slow as usual but just felt incredibly refined.
Modded E55 by comparison is quite "raw".... and arguably more enjoyable ... dunno very close call... with my sharper EGS now its a completely different animal....
