You have to think that it will push out around 600hp if the X5/6 M is sporting 555hp.

That thing's so camo'd, you can't tell a damn thing about the new design.
That being said, I saw an X5M a few days ago and thought it looked ridiculous (as in stupid). The front fascia looked like a cheap kit.

A couple of weeks ago when there was that MHP thread going on and Andy was replying thru the AD forum, I read a post of his where he claimed the M5 motors were "ingesting themselves" during testing. Andy claimed to have "inside info" that was saying watch out because the design is bad and is going to mean major issues.
According to Andy, it was because the two turbos are placed in the valley of the V generating huge amounts of heat. Does anybody know if there's any truth to this? You'd think BMW would realize if it were an issue and never design it that way in the first place(?)

You got it all wrong, the exhaust is feed from the bottom. the two pipes the point up are the one that go to the IC.

A 600 hp in a mid size sedan would awesome..... it'll definitely give the 65 AMG models good competition
Alan, you haven't even started yet..... this is only the beginning

I thought it was a cheap body kit for a 4.8i.
I doubt it will be 600hp from factory.. specially with tighter emissions.
550 is plenty enough, since it will be lighter.

You can't see **** from those pics.
But if that engine puts out 500 lb ft at 1500rpm they might make a BMW driver out of me... In 5 years when I can afford it. Lol

Well whatever it is and however it looks there is one thing for sure, BMW is not thrilled by getting beat by another car maker let alone a Caddy This M5 will once again be the king ding a ling once it comes out and you can beat your last dollar that it will beat the Caddy around the ring and the AMG,RS6 and Jag(abc) whatever it's called in a straight line!
Now I know the new E63 has the MCT w/ 100 milisecond shifts but could AMG address the handling The CTS-V set the bar and any thing under that is a loss in the performance sedan category

The question is though how long will the caddy last until if falls apart? My friend has a brand new escalade and the center caps with the caddy symbol fell off and the dealer made him buy new ones. Bad caddy dealer (spank)!
When's the waiting list start for this car can I get on it now haha! If anyone has a hook up with BMW engineers please please ask for a pano roof on this!

From what Ive heard the new M5 and m6 will have 580hp with the same motor thats in the X5m. they are only gonna tweek software and cooling.
The car will have a 7k redline and over 500lbs of torque available right above idle pretty much. Peak hp will come in in the high 5k rpms and run flat up until just before redline. The M5 will not use the auto box in the x5m but it will use a MDCT tranny that is seriously beefed up for the M5 motor. The new car will be around 4000lbs again just like the V10 m5 its replacing.
the 2012 E Amg will have a twin turbo setup and is ditching the 6.2 v8 and using a brand new 5.5v8 from then on.
This is all ive heard from cedible sources.

Fire Extinguishers!!!!!!!!
There were some threads about this design about a year ago and no one believed they could keep this design cool let alone avoid Heat Soak or the heat tsunami that would occur under a race load!
This design might have "over the edge" performance advantages but it will have major design challenges for cooling.
It will be interesting to see the reliability profile of the X6M is over the next couple of years!
My experience with my 2007 335i TT was a nightmare and I vowed to never buy another high performance BMW. The 335i is a 'mid level" performance vehicle that had unforseen "Oil overheating Heating" problems that required an after the Cars purchase an installation of an oil cooler. (there were other problems too)
Good luck M GMBH
