Black housing headlights

I just have couple quick questions for those that have the black housing headlights. Where can I get them? How much are they? And are there any negative effect of the night time driving? Thanks in advance.

I've had them on my E55 for 2.5 years and on the SL65 for about 4 months...no problems with condensation or affected lighting problems while driving.

My tuner house takes the head lights apart and preps them for painting and them puts them back together. You can call them (ask for Chris @ 813-223-3744) and they will do them for you but the problem is you won't have the headlights for a week or so...

It is labor intensive only because it is PITA to take apart and put back together plus the prep is key for the paint to cure properly to the interior surfaces pieces...you have to take your time. On the E55, they had to do it twice (prep) since the first paint attempt we saw paint bubbles pop up...obviously at no charge the second time.

They have done them on all European cars...I have seen them do a lot of Porsches, BMW, and MB's...

Jangy...it can definitely be a DIY if you have a modicum of mechanical skill (not me) and a lot of patience. Just from watching parts of the process...it looked like the hardest part was putting it back together properly and to seal it tight.

To put it back is no problem...I think the hardest part is to take it apart..I have done it on my other cars. You really have to be careful not to break any clips. It is a fun project to do if you have nothing better to do.
