Has anybody's computer fried from HID fogs ?

I purchased a set of hid from james@creative and recently the drivers side went out, I thought it was the bulb and ordered a new set of bulbs got them in and still not working, then I thought it could be the ballast bought a new set of ballasts and still not working, took the car to renntech and they told me that the computer is fried ?? after working for over a year the computer can just fry ? Anybody else have this problem ?

I just put mine in a couple of weeks ago and no problem. Looks like I may have a year to go before I know if they fry my computer...I sure hope not.

Im not sure how a bulb fries a computer...hummm???

If the bulb has too much voltage or there are spikes, a fuse should blow or the bulb will blow but a computer?

What computer is Renntech talking about? The ECU? No chance.

Have you checked with a volt meter if you are getting any voltage to the fog light plug?

There is no way a fog light kit would kill the computer. Have you tried plugging in a factory bulb in place of the HID kit?

I dont have a voltmeter and I also dont have the original light bulbs I will try to get some and try them , I took the car to renntech to see if they could figure it out and they told me the sans unit was fried, I'm gonna try to put some regular bulbs in and take the car in under starmark warranty and see what happens. I was told the sans unit was about $300

It is a SAM unit. If it had a voltage spike that could be the cause.

Did you start to get errors for the fog lights? Even though I have the error cancellors, every now and then I get fog lamp errors for both sides.
