I'm not sure if this is the same mfg, but I recall seeing a video in which some of the guys from the Gumball rally were testing this out. It makes the plate appear completely opaque and seemed to be a good option. The best way to control the system would be a microswitch mounted to the throttle position sensor (similar to nitrous engagement) to come on near full throttle so it actively engages the blocking screen will little thought required from the driver.

Since your suggestion wouldn't activate until nearly full throttle, any chance the AMG exhaust note and rapid acceleration through said speed camera intersection might have unintended consequences?

F that intersection & red light cam, I know exactly which one you're talking about! They have them everywhere in Hollywood & Beverly Hills.

One $500 ticket, one on-line traffic class and one wasted day later, never again for me either.

Thats a great point and it would really depend on how the switch was mounted as to when it would come on. An on/off switch in the circuit would prevent it from blocking the license unintentionally.

I like Akademics idea and I certainly avoid having a front plate on my car.
