Angela-
Congrats on the new build. I always heard your car was an animal and it doesn't sound like there's any doubt thats the case now. With some stickies out back and good DA, you should be well into the 10s. I want to see you and blackbenz run 'em!

Wow Angela - some fabulous parts going in there...

A couple of questions if I may ...

What headers are those !!?? Does it mate up to the OEM downpipes?

The intercooler looks larger than stock ... or is my memory bad?

Those conrods are awesome .... difficult to see but look substantialy lighter.

Pistons are a work of art... interesting way the dish is designed to assist gas flow...

The flowing work they have done is impressive... seemed to have opened up the heads ALOT!

Pics of your old motor sleeves and pistons made me cringe... ouch!

Man on man I wish I had the opportunity to get my hands on parts like that and assemble a motor ... Like Jay Leno says ... a wife would rather have her husband come home smelling of trans oil than cheap perfume right ???

Lastly - in terms of the EGS modifications Renntech did - were they able to make the sharper shifting program specific across (M/S/C) or was it sharper across the board?

Anyhow - awesome ... and very jealous! Congrats!

Awesome !!!!

1) Is that a custom intercooler ?

2) Do you plan to fit a SLR blower too ?

Awesome build.

E55 (for sale if the right offer comes along)...too many others to list
v12Godspeed-I plan on coming but not sure if I can bring the car. Ahmad planned it the weekend before my finals.

99dirtybird-The post is two years over due and the car already is one bad ****.

Prodigy-Last trap was 128 with me driving. LOL I'm sure a pro like blackbenzz or some of the other 10 second club guys could have done better.

DCMETRO-I am still using the evosport IC. That is my next upgrade and change to the motor. No future plans on any major engine mods.

Steve-I was able to salvage the evosport headers and used them in the current set up. I had them heat coated during the downtown by a great guy RT referred me to in Florida. A few board friends are trying to get me to get some long tube headers so I might do that? Not sure about the OEM comparison?

It's also evosports IC and RT added a larger pump. I have had a few issues and repairs made to the IC in the last few months so that is my first needed swap. I plan on doing the trunk ice resv. which will reduce temps at the strip.

As for the rod weight, I can go back and find out the weight difference and PM you. Seeing the art of those pistons up close and personal was an awesome experience. They scream sexy, strong, and fast!

Great joke about smelling like oil!!!! It's even better when you are dating a hot guy with a faster car that also smells like oil from turning wrenches with you.

The tuning was obviously one of the best mods for me. The speed shift is a bit different in my car at the strip. You have to run the car in dyno mode to spin the wheels. A few months back I posted about my shift points being off only to find out that stupid me left it in dyno mode. My car is flawless in the shift points and quite sharp and smooth. I love apexing curvy off ramps with my LSD and sharp shift points. hehe Thank you for all the compliments about the car!

Alan-Thank you buddy. I hope your car is doing well and hope to see you soon.
Sal-Haha...Well it only took me two years to post about my new engine so don't feel bad about not hearing about my run. I think I posted about it but I'm not sure? I am really bad at taking the time to post dyno's, timeslips, and other stuff. I hope life is good and hope to see you soon.

bbeardon-He is going to let me borrow his skinnies. If I take the car to MIR I will be driving it. I have my first set of finals the following week and I am not sure I can deal with the stress of shipping the car. I will come watch regardless. Thanks for the kind words.

Mo & Sun- I can't wait to see you guys again.

Thank you to everyone else for the nice support. I can't wait to see what she will do with a few more mods.

On a side note, RT has been selling top mounted SLR IC for years now but it doesn't work well on our car to justify the cost. I would have loved that mod but it required a hood vent and I didn't want it to look ghetto. Not only would the look have turned me off, but the cost of doing a new hood didn't justify the small gain at the track. RT tested the SLR IC on the 211 E55 and it didn't do well at the track due to the tight engine and not enough air flow. I know he has been selling it to other models for years.

cls 55 or FIAT Coupe T20v-6speed
... love those pistons and rods

now I finally get why the compression ration is slightly less for SLR (8.8 vs 9): the dish design is different in slr pistons and hosts more air voulme.

Did you replace Exh valves also ?

in any case, COMPLIMENTS !!!

I say it's photoshopped! :P jk!!

Sick build!!! This is just insane! I remember when you gave me ride in it and at the time I was still drivinng my W210 E55, and what a monster it already was. It's just plain ridiculous! I still wet my pants with the stock motor, I can't imagine it with all these mods!

Ship that monster out here before MIR and I will tweak it a bit Then you can run it at MIR and join the 10s club (I think it is actually capable of 10s as is). Send it at the end of November and I will keep it in the garage... well maybe I will take it out a few times to test out the new slicks/skinnies With those rods/pistons you need more boost

Well I work for an oil company . I use base oil to bath in and VI improver as an aftershave..

Okay, while the former is true what I really want to know is what made your original motor go south in the first place. I'm new to the board so I dont have all the history.

Well since your car is not faster it's not going to work out sorry. Lol jk
I have a wonderful man in my life with a sick car himself.

The engine blew after I accidently backed out of my garage and ran over my four inch heal in the driveway. It got sucked into the engine somehow and caught on fire. I should have know better when I purchased a shoe from the Jessica Simpson line. Damit!

Thank you Frenchie! Come visit and I will give you another ride. Bring the badge please!

Mikey-I couldn't have done the build without your great friendship and advice. You are an awesome resource.

Ahmad-Very tempting! I look forward to having you help me finish this monster.

Dyno-I have no idea?

I had the privilege of speaking to him a few months earlier when he donated an ELM for our MB Make A Wish fundraiser. A quick phone call to him sent my head swirling with the option of a SLR short block or a very expensive TT project. Knowing how much I already had into the car he suggested the SLR short block.

I received outstanding customer service during the build out and was excited that my car was a stable mate to his world famous SLR 722 GT project and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith’s mod project. During my project I decided to take a trip to visit my baby and see the damage and rebuild first hand. The facility is first class and quite a sight to see. I walked into a showroom featuring RT custom wheels and other mods. I was greeted by his stunning wife Sharon the office manager. She introduced me to Hartmut who greeted me with a huge smile. He introduced me to the staff and gave me a tour of his large facility. The engine bay was HUGE and had a nice dyno built into the ground next to the software and development area. My favorite was the fabrication area with a few CNC machines that were busy making parts. I felt like a kid in a candy store and knew at that moment I was going to end up with a great car. The tour ended in his master mechanic Steve’s build out section. I felt like I was spying on Dr. Jekyll himself. LOL
Steve had prepared my old block and new one for my inspection. Rubbing my hands inside those scorched and gouged eight walls was tragic, but was quickly put at ease with the site of my new SLR pistons and rods. Oh….Yummy! We ended the tour and headed off to have lunch with his customer the owner of Timeslips.

After lunch he invited me to come to Moroso and watch him and his teenage daughter race their Go-karts. I found out that Hartmut is also successful in the Go-kart modification business. I followed Hartmut and his family to the track in my rental and was surprised when we stopped for fuel and he came over and started pumping my gas. What a first class gentlemen!!! I saw many customers come in the door that day for parts and inquires and they were all treated the same regardless of how much they were spending. I had so much fun watching him and his daughter take several spirited runs in their modified RT Karts. The future racing world better look out for that one, she was right on Dads tail. LOL We spent the rest of the evening watching the ¼ mile races. I was excited to see Jeff his software specialist there watching the races. I am very happy with my tune and speed shift program and have Jeff to thank for that.

I left that day with the comfort in knowing that my baby was going to come back one healthy beast. I met a classy gentleman that is dedication to his passion, family, customers, employees and charity. I have spent the last two years enjoying this true masterpiece of innovation without sacrificing safety or reliability. We didn’t build the car to be the fastest around; it was built to be unique. I have pushed this car so hard and have yet to have a problem.

People complain about the cost of RT. I can tell you that I paid less for my RT mods with my newer short block then I did with my previous tuner. It was actually was more expensive not going with RT the first time. How many of you on this board have tried tuner after tuner and had to fight to get your money back when you were unhappy? How many of you have been promised projects that were never finished? He has outlived many tuners over the years and just celebrated 20 years in business. He also won the 2008 SEMA tuner shootout. He is in the process of a build out project for MB right now. I would encourage you guys to check out his website and contact your local dealer for pricing. Why not save yourself the cost of doing it right the first time? A very expensive lesson I learned. I will not be answering any questions related to the blown engine so don't ask. Thank you to the whole RT team for the car of a girls dream. I am sorry it has taken so long for this write up and thank you to those who took the time to read this long write up. Enjoy the pics!
