e63 with headers too loud

I yearning to throw some more money in my car and headers seem a good idea but will they be way too loud for the E chasis. I currently have renntech muffler and non res and will probably them like that.

The c63 guys seem to want to turn their cars into loud fast touring cars but I don't see my e the same way. It looks like most c63 guys are going the header route. Its too big and fits in a different class

ANybody have a set of headers on their 63

I can't speak to the E63 or long tube headers, but the shorties on mine made no noticeable sound differences to my E55. Same thing two other past cars of mine which were not Benzs.

You can't compare NA to SC'd engines. The E55 is pretty quiet.

I'd say do the headers for performance, then replace mufflers if you need quiet....

If you're thinking about long tube headers and is concerned about sound, then definitely stay away from MHP. They are LOUD. They maybe high quality and seem to make incredible power, but they are very loud. The C63 folks seem to love that. In terms of shorties, the sound difference was not too noticeable. I've heard Rick's CLS63 a few times at WOT down the 1/4 mile track back when he had RennTech shorties and his car wasn't too loud at all.

Maybe someone with the Kleemann setup can chime in.

Well I think the main reason the MHP LTs are so loud is because it not only eliminates the secondary cats, but the primaries as well. I think I'm one of the few who went with a high flow cat in my setup, 300 cpi, but these are so free flowing I don't think it is doing much to reduce the sound.

I have to admit after I first got the headers installed, I thought the car was way too loud. I went back to the shop to discuss ways of making it quieter without putting it back to stock. But options were very limited, and counter productive, so I've left them as is for now. But it seems everytime I get on the gas I get huge smiles and thumbs ups from enthusiasts (not so much everyone else haha), and I do find it entertaining when I can get a group of Harleys to snap there heads around

Here's a link to a vid of my car on the dyno with pretty good sound:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=280273415483

(btw, disregard dyno #, I later found out it was not configured correctly and almost off nearly 50rwhp.)

Did you keep the OEM mufflers?

Yep! Mufflers and resonators are all stock, so as you can imagine I was very shocked in the sound change. The installers commented that AMG did an excellent job researching the muffler design because they were intrigued how the car could keep an oem sound level at idle, cruise, and partial throttle, yet unleash such a violent sound when on the gas.

That sounds pretty wicked. How much did those run? Do you have to tune it as well?

I was trying to stay away from LT and was thinking about a set of Kleeman tubes. I have heard some c63 with them and they same pretty loud with just the headers and FF Cats.

I might end up leaving the exhaust system for awhile and work on some other mods
