Wonderful machine. Truly a nonlinear jump forward in all repects. Transmission is wonderful, unbelieveably fast shifts coupled with with an aggressive exhaust note made acceleration under WOT to triple digits exhilerating and extremely quick. Car is far less nose heavy than my E55 with minimal lean in aggressive turns.
Beautiful as well. Car was Palladium with the new AMG 19" wheels. Finish on the new wheels is almost an identical match to the Palladium. Dynamic seats are back! The trapezoidal exhausts actually look great! Far better in person than in the press photos.
Amazing vehicle!

'15 E63S wagon
I can't wait to drive one. I imagine the difference between an E55 and the new '10 E63 would be mind boggling in terms of refinement & overall quality, and feel. 5-7yrs between model years should make for quite a difference in the driving experience. Congrats on getting a drive---where did you drive it? Are you in the States?

Schumacher MB in Scottsdale, AZ. I was told that the 60 cars have been delivered to the top dealerships in the US. I was encouraged to drive it hard and needless to say, it did not disappoint!!! .

The car is not is not yet available for sale . The release, as I understand, is strictly for demo purposes. No price tag and dealership was not certain of the MSRP.

Ah... great seeing everyone on the bandwagon! Never be too quck to judge based on press release photos. The car is HAWT period
There's a new white E550 coupe in my underground and I drool everytime I walk by. Can't wait to see the AMG in the flesh!

I've always thought the w212 looked pretty good... even better in person, too. Those w212 E63 wagon pics (in the other thread) are

let me think...$100k-ish MSRP. what if i wait 4 yrs...buy it for $35k? i know there's a recent change, but aren't 2005's going for $35k now, and new E63 has similar msrp?

Just test drove E550 in American Service Center,VA. I am staying with my E class for a long time, interior looks cool, but exterior is hyundai/toyota combination. The most disappointing is rear trunk.. why would they do that?

I don't care what kind of driving improvements there are in the W212, the thing is just too fugly for me. Anyway, I usually never buy a first year model, too risky esp with MBs.

anybody know the gear ratios compared to the current 7sp auto..
I just hope 4th, 5th, 6th are aggressive enough to keep up with the high rpm M5.
It would be nice to see the W212 stay close to the 0-150 mph M5's time.

Performance should be pretty much identical(?) It's gained 11 hp but that's supposedly due to a better flowing exhaust and nothing else. Torque is the same. Weight has changed. Looks like it gained 250 lbs(?)
C+D says they did a 1/4 in 12.3.
Also MCT, so better shifts. Car probably feels faster.

I test drove a black one today at Leith in Raleigh. It had 24 miles on it! MSRP was about $94K. Is black on black. Had the P2 package and the new wheels. I must say it is much nicer looking in person!!! It definitely is "nasty" sounding. Much more aggressive than my 06 E55! Feels a LOT different driving! Front end is definitely lighter feeling! Throttle response is much quicker. The brakes grab hard! Drove it hard for a few minutes in the "wussy" mode but could tell the difference immediately... Didn't try "manually" shifting it, but I like the paddles better than the little buttons I have now...
Things I didn't like about it... Still not a huge fan of the interior... No Alcantara headliner??? The instrument cluster kind of grew on my, but i still like my 06's cluster better... I don't like the gear selector... Definitely not use to having to push a button to put it in park. I wish they would put the "Push To Star" back into the gear shift... I am glad they FINALLY included a back up camera!!! The new drive dynamic seats are nice... Two different settings for active dynamic and two settings for the massage... Why no rear climate control settings (or is this set up front)? The command system is pretty much the same as my wife's 09 C300... I like the live traffic feature. This one had iPod control and the auxillary port... Didn't try hooking my iPhone up to it, so not sure about compatability.. Had bluetooth...
Worked out some numbers with my sales rep, but think I will pass for now... I guess I will need to decide if I just want to spend some extra cash modding my current car to do what I want it to (e.g., iPod kit, iPhone 3G cradle, bluetooth, ECU upgrade, wheels, etc.) or if I will just wait for two years and trade my 06 in for the 2010...
Overall, I am pretty impressed by the new beast!!!
