HOW MUCH DOES A STOCK E55 WHEEL WEIGHT?

I was thinking of having my stock wheel spokes machined out some. I wonder if that could be done and still maintain a true and balanced wheel. I think 5-7lbs could be removed and still maintain the integrity of the wheel. Any thoiughts?

That is not possible with these wheels.
They are not made of solid metal. There is a Vermiculite core to the entire wheel that is surrounded by metal. If you machine away any metal, i would think it would be very dangerous.

with tires... they are about 50lbs in the front and 55lbs on the rears... for stock.
my CLS55 19" actually weigh just the same as stock in the rears and 5lbs more on the fronts. I
but it all depends on the tire compound. Some tires are heavier than others due to the stiffness of the sidewall, width, height and rubber compound.
On my stock..I have dunlop direzza 101 and my CLS55 I have Falken Z rated (forgot the type)
My 19" rears (both) are bent and I removed them from the car. Once I repair them...I'm going to shop around for lighter tires and weigh the rims again.

My understanding, is that the wheels are made of a vermiculite- graphite cast iron process. This is a very machinable end product. Other MFG`s sue this same process on thier wheels. I would think the final wheel produc thas some post machining done.

Yes, the staggered 19" BBS RS-GT's I have on my car weigh 22.8 lbs. front, and 23.5 lbs. rear. Lighter wheels make a very noticeable difference in the responsiveness and handling of the car. I just don't get why AMG puts such freakin' heavy wheels on its cars.

I don't have a scanner here, otherwise i'd post a picture of what it looks like. The Vermiculite core is the shape of the entire face of the wheel. The alloy is cast around the core & apparently shaves off 20% of unsprung weight.

The CCW 19" I have now are around 26.8lbs each and along with the Evosport performance rotors (total of 34lbs difference from stock) help a lot with decreasing unsprung weight. When I go to the drag strip I switch out the rears with CCW Classic/4 and they are around 19lbs each for 17"...

I take that as we can only fit the 17 rims in the rear of the E55 right? I was going to get the 20 rims for my cars, but that'll be strictly for look. After all the weight debate, I'll think I'll get the Forgetars 19 rims they weight in between 22-24 lbs each. Much lighter than the stocker.

As mentioned above, tire weight consideration is almost equally important as wheel weight because of roational inertia. Since the outside parts of a spinning object (tire) have to move much faster than inside parts near the axis, more mass on the end of the wheel can be exponentially harder to spin than the metal hub of the wheel.
