When I put the E63 in reverse...

...I would like the passenger-side mirror to tilt automatically. Can you set the car to do that?

My understanding is it can be enabled at the dealership.

Depends on the season
On the E55, there is a setting you can set through the display. Maybe its the same for the E63? On a side note...that function stopped working for me after I took my car to the benz dealer to get some work done and the setting in the dash didnt help lol.

on the drivers door press the passenger side mirror button in and then when you go in reverse the passenger mirror will tilt. if the driver side mirror button is pushed in then the passenger mirror wont tilt.

Nope. Doesn't work on my E63.
Where exactly would you look for that "setting" in COMAND?

There's been a lot of discussion in the W211 boards on this. It was decontented in the newer W211s and the dealers can't activate it either. Apparently it didn't work too good anyway and MB removed it.

You can do a work around by setting up the passenger mirror to point down as you want it and then 'sacrifice' a memory setting. Then when you put it in reverse, hit that memory setting so the passenger mirror goes down. Then hit your regular memory setting back on when going back into drive. Tedious.

it is not in the commad it isin the cluster

Go to the menu that says
-settings
hold reset button for 3 seconds

then hit one of the folder buttons

now go to convenience

from there you can make the adjustment

Keep in mind i have an 2005 e55, not sure if there are any differences

'08 E63 - P 30, 66GT 350 (sold)
I have an '08 E63 and just tried to set it. The manual says to press the memory button and w/in 3 seconds press the down mirror button while set to the passenger side mirror. Only problem, doesn't seem to take the setting.

I'm heading to the dealer if I can't get it to work... in the manual, should work. I've dinked with it for 20 minutes trying different combos, holding the memory button while pushing the down button, press release the memory button then the down button, etc. etc...

It's old thread week ...The option is in the menu in your dash under vehicle settings...It asks if you want to enable reverse mirror...Then when you put it in reverse and it tilts down you can set it to where you want it when it's tilted, then once in drive again you can set that to where you want it and all should be good....

fwiw, it know was decontented in later models. The 2009 doesn't have it and apparently neither does the 2008(?) The dealer can't (won't) enable it. At least not for me.

Figured easier to search old threads than start fresh and be told to search

Something must have changed in '08 as I went through the settings on the dash, even the manual doesn't say anything about enabling the rear view mirror via the Vehicle sub menu- only automatic lock setting and Audio search, and tail gate height for wagons...Convenience doesn't cover it either.

Per the manual, it's just selecting the right side mirror, pressing memory (I assume release the memory button) then push the bottom of the 4 way adjustment again w/in 3 seconds to save the position... think I maybe stuck on this one

It shows it in the Operator's manual so I plan to raise a stink at the dealer if it's really been decontented. Like Citylightva said, the functionality is there, only code. Why eliminate?

There's been a lot of talk about this here and in other MB forums. As Vince says, it's in the manual but it doesn't work. Apparently MB decontented it (looks starting with the 08 model) because it wasn't working right and people were having issues getting it to return back up, iirc.

The dealer said it's "gone" from the system.

CLK63 Black Series
It was a pretty neat feature, they should have kept it. I had it on my old CLK but the black series lacks it. It was great for making sure you don't curb the rear wheels when backing into a parking spot.

I was just messing with you...I will say it does act up sometimes, but my SA told me how to fix it...If they ever don't tilt back up you just have to readjust while you're in drive to the proper position...

RE: E63 Mirrir Tilt

Sometimes these old threads are not a bad thing.

I was not aware the 07 E63 still had this feature, thought it had been decontented. My SL600 has it and it works perfectly, heck even my 03 BMW has it....loud by still operative. I'll try to set it next time I drive the 63.

The option is in the menu in your dash under vehicle settings...It asks if you want to enable reverse mirror...Then when you put it in reverse and it tilts down you can set it to where you want it when it's tilted, then once in drive again you can set that to where you want it and all should be good....

Red face Passenger Mirror Tilt on E63

This is odd. I brought my car in a couple of months ago to the dealership for "Service C". And the other day, I noticed that when I go into reverse, my passenger mirror automatically tilts down.

It never did that before! I have to ask the dealership what they did....

Either way - I like it!
