Haha...yeah I stopped after 170. Going a 170 was plenty fast for me and whether or not my car could near 200 mph it will never see it. Spanking any car up to 150 is plenty enough for me and after that they could have the victory. Unfortunately we don't have many roads in Mexico that offer us the ability and safety to reach 200 mph.

Marky....thanks for the video. Shame it wasn't sedan vs. sedan as the touring is heavier and less slippery but other than that what can m5board have? I mean from a slow roll the margin was HUGE!

I must say, I've never been in anything on four wheels that accelerates from 40-150 like the S65.

The only thing I wish is that there was an airstrip long enough so the cars could max out. I know the M5 does 205mph but I would LOVE to know what a stock (just delimit) S65 would do....member TMC M5 said it would do 209mph and that sounds about right. I guess it all depends on how high 5th gear ultimately goes...

Lack of torque... Which sealed the deal for me getting the E55

Well done Marky... I had a similar race with an M6 but did it was quite a bit warmer out and my car was not running properly... however I was still able to clearly pull ahead. Torque is a wonderful thing!

Marky,

Do you know why this race was so much closer than the one against the M5? I know the M5 estate is heavier... but this is a very different outcome!!

Seriously thinking about getting a CTS-V.

On a side note, this thread got really awesome, really fast, then fell off completely.

yes i understand that...but that's what euro launch control is supposed to compensate for but it definitely doesn't in this video.

At the end of the day I don't really see the M5 as an "out the hole" car.. Even with the launch control. I demolished one the other day in mexico(1st gear roll, and out the hole) downstairs...

BTW maybe you know more... is euro launch control different? I was under the impression thaey were all the same..

euro launch control allows launch at 4000rpms while north american lc only allows 1500rpms. big difference that doesn't seem to make a difference in this video.

2nd that!

Something happened up top to the CTS-V for it to die out 6+mph. The CTS-V dropping that mph, seems to explain the M5's pull up top.

Thanks

Not to go too far off-topic but Gustav's videos are pure BS when it comes to M6 vs Anything. Look at this video of the M5 Touring vs the M6 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmEo_095Tl8). The M6 only had a 0.5 second lead near the end of the race. The S65 had a 2 second lead against the same M5 Touring. With that, the S65 should have had a few more car lengths on the M6.

Now back to the CTS-V vs M5, I was watching a European video of the CTS-V where it was stated that the CTS-V is limited to 300 kph. That might explain why the M5 rolled past it as if it had shifted into reverse. I don't doubt an M5 or M6 would eventually catch up the the V, but at the rate in the video is just BS IMO.

Wow, this had the makings of an epic thread. It appears that it got neutered with the quickness though.

CTS-V is a monster! I thought they trapped higher then 117mph? I'm trying to talk a friend into getting one real soon. With auto tranny of course.

I just recently ran against a CTS-V @ the track ... he had street tires and some 'minor' work, which included a pulley, intake and tune ...

I will look for the video ... but he beat me by a few lenghs ... 12.22 @ 119.8mph and he had street tires...

they have the potential to roll the f out
