This is a twin drag test by UK magazine Autocar. CTS-V kills the M5 from the lights but, heck, watch the end of the video- the M5 reels the CTS-V in like it's standing still once they get above 120mph. Will be interested to see how the new E63 does....or better yet throw the S65 into the mix...

i race my buddy e50 m5 and he didn't pass me. we race to 150 and i was a car ahead. maybe pass 160 he might have caught me. we are both stock. but that changing as we speak. rematch should be good.

 

It looks like the driver of the M5 weighs significantly more than the driver of the CTS-V, which may have explained the slow start of the former.

 

That 120 mph pass by the M5 seemed strange. The difference was way to great for two cars powered and geared like that. May be the CTS went into 4 cylinder mode or has a bad I/C pump..lol

 

You mean once they get over a 145mph.. In the every day world, The CTS V will dog the M5..

 

I don't know about that. I can see the M5 catching up at 120+ but for it to pass the V with that much ease seems far fetched.

 

ASR M5 did that to me six times in one night. I gave him 3 cars and 3rd gear he walk me just like that

I saw the same video earlier today..

looks like both cars did not perform to their potential... if you look at the 0-100 times...

but if both drivers kept their foot in the pedal and the M5 was gaining that fast.. we might guess the CTS-V will have heat issues too just like any other kompressor engine.

 

All I know is this thread is about a M5 and CTS-V and you randomly brought her up in a negative way, why would you do that unless she turned you down or something?

 

I bet that clown, Gustav, from M5 board will put up a video of the CTS-V losing to an M5. Better yet a Veyron to an M5.

 

Back to the CTS-V, I find it wierd how C&D & other rags tested her to run 117mph + Traps this vid/review shows it @ 111mph???

Wow, I can't believe how strong that M5 pulled on the Caddy up top...pretty strong.

 

^shouldnt be too much of a surprise. v10 + a 7-speed.. the e60 m5 is an upstairs nightmare.. Anyone from New York that has gone to jones beach knows what i'm talking about...

 

I never had a chance to run a M5 but I'm hoping it will happen soon. The only thing I've race up to 170 was a 996TT with a tune, straight pipes, and a few other mods. I had approximately 4 car lengths on him up to 170 and holding. There's a modded M6 in the area and I'm hoping I get my chance soon. I hate running in Mexico but every now and then I let loose.

 

CTS-V should have paddle shifters.... those are E55 style shift buttons!

 

Did you come off at 170? depending on which road in Mexico, a modded m5 will def. hit 200+
