New to a E55
Hello all,
I recently purchased a 04 e55, comming from a manual e46 m3 to this is quite a difference. So far im really impressed with this car but i have a noob question so go easy on me. when im on the highway and i click it down into third gear around 4k when i full throttle it and upshift it into fourth (even if i do it before 6k) it dosent shift right away, is that because im on full throttle? cause what ive noticed at low speeds when not wide opened as soon as i click gear up or down it changes.
I did a search and came up with trying the ecu reset, will try this and see if it gets better. Other than that, is there any other things like ecu reset i should know or bet settings for car?
Thanks

Welcome. The manual shift sucks on these cars. There's always a delay that is usually unpredictable. Leave it in Sport and let the tranny shift on it's own. I only use the shifter if I want to shift in to a higher gear after a run, or if I want to downshift to the lowest possible gear before a run.

Yes, don't expect it to shift like a SMG Bimmer. Leave it in S like Cahiil says and romp on the 'go' pedal. Or put the transmission in C and marvel at the incredible amount of torque the car produces, providing huge thrust at impossibly low RPM and shifting before you thought you had enough revs built up. C mode can be fun as it makes the car feel super fast AND relaxed at the same time.
Love that torque.

Oh, as to other advice... In a drag-race situation, common knowledge is to put the suspension in comfort mode (meaning all the lights are out). This softens the suspension and allows for better weight transfer to the rear wheels and thus a better launch. Plenty of more detailed advice on the board, enjoy the community and the car!

Thanks man i appreciate the advice, there is deff alot to know about this car. I think my SC pump is bad cause after a few runs it dies out and feels like a ford focus haha

My SC pump was bad also when I first got my car. Buy the bosch pump for the ford lighting ($99 shipped) and install it for like $100. Easy fix and you'll love the car after wards.
