Problem with my E55 Vibrating
#26
I replaced the transmission mount last night with one I picked up for $20. It got rid of 90% of the vibration, which is good enough for me. The factory one I removed looked good by all outward appearances and wasn't ripped, but it was junk. Took all of 5 minutes to replace once I got the car up on the lift.

2003 cl55 (sold)
Have just recently had same problem in the last month or so.... At very very gentle, low acceleration, a slight vibration, like the throttle body is hesitating or something. Only at low speeds, like 5-20mph. Push the throttle a little harder, it goes away.... may be needing to make a trip to the dealer. Have 67k miles, CL55. Hopefully just the mounts, but who knows. Anybody else with similar issues?
Just to add a bit: does it when cold and warm, doesn't matter. Does not do it all of the time, but seems to be worse or more noticeable going up a slight incline....

I just went through the same issue with my 06 the car had 71K on when I got it. I replaced the engine mounts and the transmission mount and the issue is not gone along with the thumping I would get going over some bumps. Both of my motor mounts were ruptured and the job was unbelievable mess I also can believe that I had to unbolt the steering rack to get the divers side mount out! My transmission mount looked ok but I had to raise the transmission .75 inch to slip the new one is so I am sure it was pretty hosed too. I would think that these motor mounts need to be replaced on every E55 by now or at least by 50 to 60K miles.
It looks like the OP has replaced all these parts too and still has his issue so I need to ask if someone has put a scanner in his car while driving it to verify that it is not an issue with the drive by wire throttle. I have had an issue where the encoder or POT for the gas pedal had a dead spot and cause drivability issues

Reviving
Sorry to bring such an old thread to life and I hope some who have cured this issue are able to respond.
I have a 2003 E55 with 71k miles. I was curious if the vibration you described was constant under certain load or did it sort of vibrate and then stop under the same load (but as speed increases)? It really sounds like I have the issue described in this thread. It is definitely different than what I have experienced in older cars when lets say the U-Joints are going bad (increased vibration with speed). My vehicle will vibrate under slight acceleration for about 5 seconds or so but then it goes away unless I try to find the sweet spot that causes it again. It sounds like it comes from the middle/rear of the car. Accelerating more or less also makes it go away more rapidly.
Doesn't sound like a terrible shot in the dark to change these with this kind of mileage but looking for some reassurance just in case the experience described here differs from mine.

Follow up
Just to follow up. I have finally cured my issue completely but it did not come cheap.
Essentially, the issue I was having was almost identical to the issues reported when coolant leaks into the transmission causing droning/vibration. While there was not evidence that coolant leaked into my transmission, the course of action to correct the vibration/droning was the same.
I had my transmission rebuilt (soft parts), torque converter, and valve body replaced. The issue is completely gone as is some of my hard earned cash. :-)
Thought I would share.
Thanks,
Denny

2004-2006 don’t have that issue.
