What to be expected at Brake Service
I have a couple of questions involving a brake service. I want to know how much is truth, and just dealers trying to make a couple extra bucks.
When buying the car I was told:
1. When the brakes come up for service they must replace the pads and the rotors at the same time as the pads are so soft and the rotors are so soft that they wear to quick. Is that the truth, as on most of my cars I have never needed to do the pads and the rotors everytime. Usually just the pads, and then once every 2-3times the rotors (50-60k miles). Any ideas?
2. Also, they said to replace the front and the rear, it would be $3000. Is this true? Excessive?
3. Do the front and the rear rotors both need to be replaced at the same time, or do they work on seperate schedules?
Thanks, I just want to make sure the dealer isn't "squeezing every penny".
