What's with those wheels? I thought they came with a nicer looking split spoke wheel?? Those ones look like the old E63 wheels, but with thicker spokes. Fail.

I'm with you - wheels look stupid as hell...

The good ones must come with the 030 Package.

They are always messing good things up on stupid details.

Holy $%^&*(. 2010 model and it still does not come with Keyless Go standard? I like the front though it is starting to come across as too Caddi for me. Rear can go back to the drawing board. At least it does not look like an Acura TL rear end.
Still, I will place a bid.

I wish that wheels would be the only problem with a car, but it looks hideous. I hope Vic55 will create w212 sub-forum, so we won't see that ugly crap in w211 section

I agree that those don't look very good. I love the 19's mine came with. I have to say that the car is really nice and it sounds great. I really like what they did on the inside of the car.

The "nice" wheels are an optional 19" upgrade, NOT part of the 030 package. Though they do make the car look significantly better.

Uhhh wtf? Downgraded to 6 piston brakes?

And that interior is hideous. I still can't get over what MB did to the entire dashboard, it looks so cheap and plasticky.

They were "downgraded" when the W211 E63 came out. I wouldn't call it a downgrade though. The six piston brakes on the 211 and 212 E63 are supposed to have better feel with the same braking ability as the E55's 8 piston brakes.

The car from the rear and the side looks like a 25k sedan, horrible. Front is good, sunroof nice. But no way in hell this car is going to sell for 97k

As far as I know, W211's (E55 & E63) have 8 piston Brembo's, W212 doesn't, those are 6 piston, very similar to BMW Performance brakes.

You do understand that just because there are two less pistons does NOT mean that they do not grip as well

There is WAY more to consider then the number of pistons for a GREAT breaking system, swept area, total surface area of the pistons, line pressure, weight of the rotor/caliper, etc, etc. Go to ANY local race track and you find that four pistons are the NORM for a REAL race car. Anything over that, and you loose some reliability and add unnecessary weight, IMHO and other racer's

Just FYI my friend

04 - 06 e55 Wagon - looking for
Hmmmm, I've seen those wheels before, except they were in 16" and gold.
I can understand going up in wheel size, but at this point,
they should have just kept the gold. There should be a price discount for those wheels

Not looking very hot, especially without all the fancy lighting and editing of the official M-B/AMG pictures. And to those saying the dash looks like downgraded cheap plastic, unfortunately it kinda feels like that, feels very similar to what's found in the 204. Interior of the car is solid and feels durable, but surfaces and materials feel clearly cost cut and less refined IMO. I've heard this has to do with cars having to be built more environmentally friendly, and quality of plastics and the like are inevitably suffering from it.

This pictures shows off how awfully "down-sloped" and awkwardly proportioned the rear end is:

As does this:

And these show off how badly proportioned (in respect to the inner and outer lights) and clumsy the headlights look to me, when not looking at the car head-on (which is the only way the headlights actually look in harmony with each other at all):

This area next to the seat in the W211 is all carpet with a "stitch" simulated look on the plastic above it (with the '05+ cars at least), looks much better and more "rich" to me than this:

Yeah, the rear does look chopped off and squat esp with those HUGE tail lights.

What's with the chrome window trim? I wonder if there's a black line option (like with BMW.)

The E Class AMG progression in the past 7 years seems to be kinda on a downward evolution instead of upwards.

Maybe in a few years when the motor gets twin turbos and the body gets a makeover.......

Drives Slowly
The car I drove was very aggressive looking and sounding and I was impressed with the overall package. I will have to agree that the interior was not on the same level as the W211 but hopefully they will correct some of these shortcomings. I give it at least one thumbs up.
