I NEED YOUR EXPERTISE
Quick question but an important one for me. I tried to find older threads but no success. I need rear tires for my 06 e55 something serious and a shop near me has a pair of 285/35/18's. I have the stock AMG wheels and I believe they are 18x9.5's. Are these 285's gonna fit right? I my car is not lowered either. the suspension is stock as well. Anyone with expertise with this please let me know if this would work fine for my car. And if so what is the widest i can go. I could be wrong but a few months ago I could of sworn someone was on here with 305's. Did i just read that wrong or is that possible to be that wide without any modification? I would love to have the widest possible that will fit on my stock rear 18's.

Hmm... I had 285/30/19 on my 31 offsett style IV's and they rubbed on the fender. I was out by about 5mm.
I cant remember what the offset is on stock rims but if its ~31 it wont work. If its ~35 then I think you will be ok. The 285 bulges more on the sides too so that does not help. The 275 wraps more neatly into the 9.5" rim.
If I work it our correctly the diameter of the 285/35/18 is greater than that of a 275/30/19 which fits like a glove on a 31 offset. You are taller by 9mm overall so ~4-5mm at the top. Its gonna be close - all depends on the rim offset.
