2006 E55 AMG --old cars -- E39 M5, 2.7tt Audi S4, E36 M3 **Ducati 996, 748
i have gotten my stock one to 155-160 rather easily... Its pretty damn fast --+180mph would be a piece of cake if i have limiter removed and have enough empty "straight" road -- like 3 miles.

The car is geared to run 224 at 6500rpm in 5th (19" wheels, 275 with 30 profile rubber) ... I dont think you will get there ...
With a 2.82 diff its 211, and I dont think I will get there either but I will get above 200mph - I am convinced of that. Alot will depend on weather I think and what cooling package you have.
The SLR - in its various guises hits around the 217 mark.... I don't think the E can match that!!![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
The car is good for 200mph but most high end tyres are rated to 186mph. Thats why there are actually two delimits in the ECU - one that drops the 155mph limit and the second which removes the 186mph limit.
Aparently the car is engineered / built to go 186mph and not beyond... thats why the second one is in place - its also the limit of the Performance Pack SL cars....
I have had my car to 172 ages ago and I tell you its not planted like an SL.... after that experience I don't think I would like to try to hit 200....

I did 180 in around 2 miles length with about 2 miles of slowing down. I am going to need a lot more road to go over 200, but I think my car will do it. What do you think the speeding ticket would be....babhahahah...or Jail time rather...

I didn't see it mentioned yet but if you are serious about taking a run at 180+ you better make sure you have the proper tires and they are in good shape. Not all tires can hold up at those speeds and a blowout while going that fast will be catastrophic.

Just to repeat great advice: do not turn ESP off. It may save your life if you have a high speed blow out or other issue. May.
As the only defender of the E55k's handling, I have to say that I would love to attempt 200 with slight aero mods. It may not be the most stable, but it can handle 200.
To quote a true enthusiast.....there is a HUGE difference between 180 and 200. HUGE. My best run was with HREs & R rated tires (coincidence), lowered, Vorsteiner front lip, EVO Rotors, and MB rear 3 piece spoiler. I had to fight to hit 180 (indicator). I pulled back because of road and not steadiness. Mine has the PC tune and I think it maxes at around 185 anyway.
Fastest documented here would be Rick's CLS63

I have seen 195 on my speedo with a LET tune 180 pulley and heat exchanger with still more in it. The care felt planted more over 160, but mine is lowered down some also. Either way these cars are built for high speed from the factory and if you can order the car with a 186 speedo from the factory the 200 mark shouldnt be a problem for this vehicle.

CLS63
All I will say is on a 1 mile track straight 180mph on 91 tune with A/C on.. lowered the front an extra 1/2 from my normal stance and car stuck like glue, felt very tight and safe.. Texas has a lot of open highways I would Imagine 196+ would be easy if a big truck would not get in your way.. One thing I will say is, a CLS63 High speed runs are very very impressive

not really straight, but traction control left on :P - quick shot of mine to 165mph (c55k) ; most i have had it was around the 184 mark ... and I was almost out of gearing
