Rice rockets???
I see 20 slow rice rockets for every fast one on the road. Most are FRONT WHEEL DRIVE Integra or Civic "Type R Mugen Specs" with 3ft tall rear spoilers & a 5" cat-back exhaust.

If you are so insecure that you care about losing a race, then leave them alone or at least look for an intercooler before getting into.
Also, just don't street race. Its stupid and dangerous
Those little "rice rockets" as you call them have absolutely nothing to lose. If they lose, you spent 90k on the car, but if they win...
But man does it have style....

I used to have a Built Turbo Type R and used to love to see an exotic where the owner would actually drive it.
part of me wants to build another civic hb as a dd just to play with though, great gas milage and you can beat the crap out of it hahaha. ...

I love guys like this.
FWIW, I wouldnt street race...i have too much to lose outside of my ego if something were to go wrong

Well there are various stages of modification for imports. Some civics might have a plain turbo kit running 8 psi and might want to see how fast it is compared to a euro benchmark. Others might have a fully built block with 25psi and run 10s, and they want to beat the snot out of a euro benchmark.
Some people just want an adrenaline rush.

Try taking it out of 7th gear...

I have the 7G-Tronic and I pretty much always keep the car in 5th unless I'm on the freeway and cruising for gas mileage. 6 and 7 is overdrive. The 7 speed was more built for better mpg, comfort, etc..
An Evo with a few bolt-ons will destroy an E63 in drag racing, road course, etc. I don't consider an E63 to be a sports car. It's a nice luxo cruiser with some *****.
GTRs and EVOs ruined all the fun.
Still some classics out there though.....and so much fun when you run into them.
On a more serious note, it is both. They relish in the fact that they can beat an AMG, a hand built European car that brand new cost $90k+.
They also know that people don't buy AMG's just to go cruise in, or they would have bought a 500 or 550.
A buddy I went to school with used to have a highly modified Subaru 2.5. At least it looked like an old 2.5 RS. Nothing under the hood or in the suspension was 2.5. Guy paid something like $60 in insurance a month, spent less than $10k total on the car and parts (after selling off all original as parts for whatever he could get), did all the work himself.
He had a blast running with the exotics and the Porsche's on the track, but he also drove like a bat out of H311 on the streets. Would race anything and everything, but got a special rush out of M's, P cars, AMG's, and even the occasional vette. If it was modified and faster, so what, that guy spent who knows how much more on it. But if he won, oh it meant something.
Needless to say, I stay away from them. Besides, going down the highway, the cops can hear the buzz and take 4 or 5 times the look at the rice rockets than they ever do at me. I'm just a dude driving a MB "family sedan," right?
Most drivers of the rice rockets are young, they enjoy the rush of "going fast" and justify it by going fast with another car beside them.
