E63 AMG
Emoving,
Hey man congrats, you won the bet! Definitely sold for more than I thought it would. Maybe the west coast has something to do with that. See below:

Don't get too excited about the 32K one, on the disclosure statement it said it had frame/unibody damage thus the price.

Perfect example though bigs! Because we know that car needed tires($1000), front screens($400) auction fee ($450) center arm rest ($150) and I would guess a oil change ($99) and a detail ($150). This is why auction cars are not always the best deal. Find a dealer in distress that had been sitting on one for a while and steel it!

$25750 + 2250 and you get $28000! Now add dealer profit and the thing will be listed for low 30s

This is exactly why I bought mine from a MB dealership. It was perfect, they replaced the fugly *** grill for a new stock one (see my gallery), and it had every option I wanted. I called them at the end of the month and told them how I used to be in the business and if they wanted a sale, here is my price.

I had a lot of luck on cars.com and waited for the right one that was perfect. Spend a few bucks more now for one that has gone through the shop and everything is fixed, and then try to negotiate a good price.

E63 AMG
6 of one half dozen of another. Depending on condition, I don't mind fixing some of the small stuff like the front grill and the armrest. That to me isn't even a thought. I would never pass on a good deal for cosmetics. Since my bro works at the dealership, I have a different thoughts of buying from them.

500 SL
So I have a decision to make, two options:

1. 2003 E500 50,000 miles with Pano, Parktronic, Solar Vent, keyless entry, distronic, Fully optioned seats, and Starmark Warranty to 100,000 miles for $16,000

OR

2. 2003 E55 AMG with 80,000 miles no pan, no keyless, no warranty for $18,000

Push me into number 2, if you think it is worth it for a daily driver and/or perhaps just bang for the buck.

IMO the depreciation these cars took in the first place is more crazy. If the prices go up, to me that is more realistic to what these cars should still cost used.

I would get the 55 but I have driven both and I would be sick of an E500 in about a week. YOu can still get a warranty for the E55 through Chrysler. So get the 55 and spend a little dough on the warranty for piece of mind.

what kind of warranty can you buy from chrysler for (soon to be) 7 yr old car w/ 80k miles? can someone give me an idea?

I'm asking because my 109k 2002 S55 will be out of warranty in about 3-4 months, and i'm wondering what the best options are. in a perfect world, i've already dealt w/ ALL of the big tix items, including ABC pump, valve block, etc.

if reliable, my $12-14k value car is probably best to just drive for another 3 yr as the engine/drivetrain is strong. if other things could go, perhaps try for warranty...or just sell now and try to get a $25k 2004-2005 S55 w/ warranty?

any thoughts?
