How can I get that SL55 sound?
I searched for this but nobody really answered it. I drove a friends SL55 for the weekend and really love the sound almost similar to a G55. Also, realized how quiet and lame my E55 sounds. I know removing the secondary cats, resonator and adding an X-pipe would make it louder, but will this give my car that SL55 rumble?
If not what is different, I looked under the SL it has secondary cats and a resonator as well, but it doesn't have that crazy crossover at the secondary cats like our cars have. Can the shorter overall exhaust length make such a difference?

Not really, I've done the same mod on our W210 E55 although it sounds alot better it does not have that distinct sound like an SL55. Before I start modding the exhaust on the W211 I thought i'd ask first to see what needed to be done to get the sound. What I am asking is if the SL55 exhaust is tuned different or what it is that makes it sound like it does?

The resonators are different and it should have two crossovers or at least one.. I would say the resonators make some of the difference.
