Car free at the moment
Airmatic Droop

The driver's side rear corner of my '06 goes down about an inch overnight. After 24 hours it's sitting on the bump stops. Pops right back up when using the car, though. How much airmatic drop is acceptable?

Has anyone had difficulty getting MB to replace/repair airmatic under CPO warranty?

Your comments appreciated. Thanks.

Shadow, you may be on borrowed time. When the air matic fails the car may not be able to be moved (flat-bed tow). Your air matic should hold your car up for months, if you have a slow leak the air pump and relay may burn up due to extended duty cycle to over come leak all the time. If under warranty get it to dealer ASAP. Don't be stranded.

If it's dropping like that, it's leaking. And the pump will try to pump it up to keep it up after you start the car. As you drive and depending on where the leaks is, it might stay up. But the pump is working overtime to keep it up. And the leak can get worse until it finally stays dropped.

It's covered under the CPO and you just need to convince the dealer that it's leaking enough and get the strut replaced before the pump burns out (as Yacht Master said.)

My 07 E63 had this same exact problem, but it was my drivers rear strut that was failing. I talked to my shop forman, he said that there is a problem. The car should level out, and never bottom out, or completely deflate. They replaced mine with no problem, they hook it up to a computer that reads the faults from the suspension. So, please get your replaced before it completely fails on you, leaving you stranded somewhere.
