Some people are performance car enthusiasts and some people are wannabe trendy price tag posers.

Hopefully by then the aftermarket will figured out the direct injection system (high pressure fuel pump and injectors). May be the MB aftermarket tuning will be better too. Over all, the TT is a very welcome news. TT>SC>NA

Seriously... I bought my E63 for the seven speed tranny and the 30mpg I get when I go to so cal. Also for the interior, pano, and distronic. I could have bought a e55, modded the hell out of it..... and it would have still been slower than my Viper that sits in the garage!

2004 E55 AMG
just when I was about to go to the darkside MERC offers a glimmer of hope. 580HP and 475TQ are the magic numbers for me. I chose the 55 over the 63 for the mod factor and torque. that's what I will be looking for in my next car.

My P-car is my 'real car' and my DE/AX car.
That said, you could also point out that a lot of those "wannabe trendy price tag posers" bought a new E55 when it was first out, too. Plus some people actually prefer n/a motors.
But yeah, FI technology has come a long way and TTs are the way to go. Porsche will probably be the only one to still offer a n/a but primarily to keep the 997TT high priced, profitable, and marketable. Plus a P-car has a lot more going for it just chassis-wise over the heavy uber sedans anyway.

So will this be the only 6.3 available after 2010?
The performance levels out of the box is right there for the M159

LMAO, so the 63 owners purchase for mpg's and the rarity of the n/a platform. Sound like honda guys ("we like n/a"). Why WOULDN'T you want a faster/stronger engine in a car that is made for power? Anyhow- yeah..back on topic...

I am really not a fan of turbo charged anything. Supercharger, maybe, but I hate Turbo charged cars, I almost bought a Cayenne Turbo S, but even the slightest turbo lag annoyed me. Guess I better buy a new E63 before 2011.

For all of you that like the "55" platform over the "63" platform wait until the new 7.0L stroker kit with cams are out. The modded "63" platform is already keeping up with some of the quickest modded "55" series cars out there. Not starting a war but the "63" platform is very strong and has huge potential. I like the E55 and think its a great car also but you have to heavily mod them to run low 11's or now 10's so don't rain on the the "63" heavily modded parade. We are trying to compare a FI motor to a NA motor. I believe with the stroker kit, heads and cams, we'll be running NA right with the heavily modded E55 guys. Its all fun.
When you compare the FI 55 vs the NA 63 its been a good race and will continue to. Now go mod and go faster!!

Which modded 63 is keeping up w/the "quickest" 55's out there? And a stroker kit is NOT a simple bolt on upgrade. It's a complete engine rebuild with overhaul and will require MANY other modifications to be at full potential. I'd hardly call pulley/cooling/tune/headers/exhaust HEAVILY modded. I just don't understand N/A platforms anymore- technology is getting more and more advanced, even Corvette has taken advantage of it. Why go backwards??
