Do I need to Ceramic coat my Headers??

As title, It is really expensive to do here in the UK ($750).

Is it absolutely necessary?

Thanks

Paul

What are your headers made of? Mild steel or 409 steel i would coat. 304 or better stainless I would not coat. Good Stainless is a poor conductor of heat. I can literally grab my merge collector 10min after some dyno runs. It just keeps all the heat inside.

With 304 SS it's not absolutely neccessary to coat, as Mike mentioned, and they do live and take abuse, but (in my opinion) it is still a good preventative maintenance step to do it, and more so, if you happen to live in a weather climate area that goes from hot to cold too fast (as I do here )

9 months of cold/rain almost guaranteed, and then sunshine with the odd shower, that's if we lucky...

I may give Kleemann UK a call and see if they have had problems as a result of not coating.

Thank you for your opinion.

You may not have a problem then..... over here in the winter, temps drop to 36 F at night and then 73 F in the day time
