Where can I find USED or REBUILT low mileage 55k engines??

I have a CLS that recently got hydro-locked. I will most likely need to replace the 55k engine. Does anyone know the best place to find a good replacement with LOW MILES or perhaps a re-built 55k engine?

Your worst nightmare...
Shame I am delivering one with tranny and all modules for roughly 7k this coming month. About 1-2 months ago was advertising it and no one wanted one...If you search patiently you should find a good deal.

Well I did tons of research , phone calls and emails to finally find a perfect engine at the right price. I got a 2005 engine with 45k miles for 5k shipped. Then had to pay a little to install it but total i was a little over 6k and I think my car is worth a little more then that lol

Your key source: Potomac/LKQ

The largest dealer of used MB engines in the US is Potomac German Auto or their used engine division called LKQ. Google used mercedes engines and 7 out of 10 websites actually belong to LKQ.

If you want a brand new rebuilt/remanufactured one at half the price of a new factory motor then try Metric Motors and ask for Mike Elias. Tell him Robert C sent you and you can get a discount. link = www.mercedesengines.net

I bought from an individual and the motor had been started to be rebuilt but lacked final assembly.. All new parts, in peices but had to get dealer to assemble ..

If I had do it again, I would buy a low mileage motor and drop it in.. Either that or take a older block and build a stroker motor. Use steel sleeves and standardized race parts.. IE; crank, rods and pistons. Kept my old block, just for that reason..

ditto. Kept my old block as well. Bore to 6.1 like Brabus, then stroke and TT it! Would be a true monster.

Hydrolock (short for either hydraulic lock or hydrostatic lock) is a condition of an internal combustion engine in which an incompressible liquid has been introduced into its cylinder(s), resulting in the immobilization of the engine's pistons. The liquid causing this malfunction is often water. Internal combustion engines must compress air to work efficiently and this works because gases can be compressed. Liquids do not compress so if a volume of liquid greater than the volume of the combustion chamber at its minimum (top of the piston's stroke) enters the combustion chamber then the piston cannot complete its travel. Either the engine must stop rotating or something must give. The result is often a bent connecting rod or sometimes a cracked cylinder head or block.

just got a call from my service advisor. they got the car to turnover and run compression tests. 4 cyclinders are off so they are saying i must have bent some rods or somehting but wont know more until they disassemble the engine. now we are waiting for approval from the insurance company to pay for the disassembly (20 hours). keeping my fingers crossed

I guess I am not the only one that is looking for a motor.

In my case MBZ claim that un-filter air went in.. but my tech dont believe it. and we are pushing for a second look for them to prove it to us.
"Green Filter" yes I know there was a problem before. but claim it as fix.

but if I had to buy, we were think of putting a 65 amg motor. unless if the price is too high for it.

Imagine E65 AMG wagon...... Damn I luv the sound of it already..

well for sure 5k is a drop in the pan for a motor. The guy I was referencing had a bunch of mods and blew the motor. Then had to remove the mods and take it back to the dealership. I think his motor was 20k "ish" but was covered under warranty.
