I don't think these brakes are any better, the calipers look the same as the exiting 6 piston AMG brakes, just that they are red now, for the performance package. Now the rotors are something totally different, they resemble the rotors that are currently on the Cadillac CTS-V. I can see that these rotors will run cooler due to all the air circulation, they will recieive. The old saying goes, if your brake run cooler under hard braking the shorter your braking distance will be, and the brake as less prone to fading, after repeated application of the brakes. The rotors are a total improvement over the solid one piece that are currently out there for AMG. Less weight equates to shorter stopping distances.

I thought the stock rotors > PP rotors based on peoples track experience with longevity and braking, just the weight difference.

Big question here is what happened to the forged internals and other performance goodies that were supposed to make up the P31 package?

Those look puny compared to a real Brembo GT set-up.

They look like the stock E63 rotors, just red .

I believe the only true brake upgrade are the carbon fiber brakes.

A carbon-ceramic rotor is a big upgrade but you would need the best caliper possible to maximize braking area.

Carbon Ceramic Rotors and pads are an expensive option. Just imagine replacing them, dam your wallet is going to feel it. Granted you can afford them, their very dusty, and they squeal. I hear people complaining about the dust and squeal now, imagine living with these brakes. The benefit about these rotors, are they can absorb allot of heat, I mean allot. More then the steel rotors, that is why their used in Formula One Racing.
When you used the rotors you definitely need a different calipers, that take advantage of the tremedous braking performance. In a typical automotive application, they have a long live, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini now use them. They can't be beat, their the next evolution in braking performance.
