Why Is This 2004 E55 41K So Cheap?

Hey guys,

Am I missing something, I found this E55 AMG in Cali. 1 Owner car, 41K miles, no accident, nothing bad and they want 29K for it, through e-mails I've brought it down to 25K. It seems to be too good to be true, the TRADE IN VALUE alone on this car is 25K. On paper seems like a crazy deal, I just want to do a search to see if anyone know this car. Could it be that they took the car as a trade for a lot less than Trade in so even at 25K it's profit? Or just maybe that's how much they are going for these days? Anyone care to go check the car for me.

Hmm, didn't know it's been on the market for that long. Must be something going with it. Sucks because a lot of these cars don't carry any paper work and you can't get the service history unlike BMW you can walk into any dealership worldwide and offer the VIN and it shows you all the history on the car.

Just got off the phone with 5 dealers and none of these guys do PPI's "Too much of a Liability" The Beverly Hills Benz will do it for $300 but it excludes Frame, and two other things I forgot.

Huh?

I call my service guy and he runs the history. In service date, warranty work, oil changes, you name it.

Can you please have him run the service on the VIN of the car provided up top.

No, I'll save the favor. They run them just like a BMW dealer. Actually, the most recent print out I got was easier to read than the ones I get from the BMW dealer. Have you asked?

I also don't have a problem getting a dealer to do a PPI. I've had a BMW, Porsche, and a MB one done this year.

2006 Mercedes E55
Just call the local dealer. I did when I bought my 2006 and got the history. Actually better to visit as they won't be as hurried on the phone.

Also when I ran a full carfax mine also showed all the service detail.

Montecito Motors isn't the best around... I've been by before, it's not stellar to say the least. I'd rather buy a CPO'd car that carries some sort of a warranty than buying something from them.

Nope, I doubt there's anything wrong with it. Tons of people are getting their e55's in the low $20's in excellent shape. Even in better shape then mine. I know it sucks but that's depreciation for you in this economy. And I thought I got a deal when I bought mine for $50k a few years back, lol. I guess not.

Not happening! If it does, that has a salvage title or some weird history.

I've worked this car down to 25,900 in E-mail, so should I take it and go? Maybe 25K flat? Is that a good deal. Keep in mind, I have to allocate $600 - 1000 for shipping from Cali to Virginia.

Here is what I think, and you have proved this with your own Manheim posting. The car would probally sell at auction for $26000 or more considering it is a good color and low miles. The fact that he is willing to sell it to you for less then that would make me suspicious at least.

I'd be careful when having a car shipped cross-country like that. Have a good, reputable shop or MB dealer do a PPI and test EVERYTHING.

Get a thorough PPI out there by a reputable shop.......

Seems like a fair price the way these cars are dropping in value........

Who knows, maybe waiting another month or two will save you even more

+1 Emoving. Something goofy at that price.

Also, there is a classified section Worth the Wait.

Um..... I wasn't selling anything, just simply pointing out that the car the previous poster linked was priced without the HRE wheels.

I live in Santa Barbara, this dealership is a tiny outfit been around for 20 yrs usually sells nice high-end cars, I'd be more than happy to run by & give it a once over.

If you're serious about it I can also easily get my SA @ MB to get full history for you as well

Omg, that would be wonderful. If it's on your way and you could check it out and let me know. Perhaps even do a little test drive. At the price I've worked the deal 25,9000 I think it's a very good deal considering the carfax and how on paper the car seems to be immaculate. Unless there is a catch which I can't see all the way from VA.

Expensive wheels, but not a fan of them. The car looks pretty good and the miles are very nice, price could be under 30K. I've e-mailed them. We'll see. Only thing I'm not too excited about is, 3 owners since 2004.
