The segment of the M3 nuts, 3xx, Nismo and so on is baffling to me. First, you guys talk like $30-40K is not a big deal but that's a fair amount of money after tax. How do they come up with it and then the dough for mods?

It's also got a different feel to it than the Ford vs. Chevy wars of the past. The only comparison I can come up with. My first high HP car was a 396/375HP Chevelle but I wasn't very cocky about it because I knew just around the corner there was somebody that could kick my a$$. These guys act like an M3 is the coolest thing ever. It's just not. There is no coolest car ever IMO. You just drive and enjoy what you like.

At any rate, the culture seems pretty dead end.

Gondon, sorry to burst your bubble, but your school and national universities aren't on the same rating/ranking system.

USNews breaks them down by categories. National Universities and Universities that only offer up to a masters are on different levels. Universities that only offer masters degrees may be good, but they're on a much more regional level (that's why they break down the Universities that only offer masters degrees on a regional level within that category as well).

lol, damn and I got excited about 36th rank.

I found the ranking system and Mason is rated 120th.
http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandre...counselor-rank

My Tier 1 Rapes, National University's

* In America's Best Colleges 2010, Baruch was ranked 6th public, and 36th Master's University in the North by U.S. News & World Report.[13]

* The undergraduate business programs were ranked 33rd nationally, the second most highly regarded in the NY/NJ metropolitan area, and also among the top 30 of public institutions (U.S. News & World Report, "America's Top Colleges 2009").

* In October 2009, Baruch's MS program in Financial Engineering was ranked among the top ten in North America by QuantNetwork[14]

* For nine years, Baruch has topped the list of the most ethnically diverse institutions of higher education in the United States (U.S. News & World Report, "America's Top Colleges 2008")

* Baruch is among the top 10% of U.S. colleges according to The Princeton Review, which selected the College for inclusion in "The Best 368 Colleges: 2009 Edition." They also labeled the college as one of the nation's best value undergraduate institutions in 2008. Finally, The Princeton Review included Baruch in the 2009 "Best Graduate Schools" and "Best Business Schools" listings.[15]

* Baruch's Part-Time MBA is ranked 17th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report ("America's Best Graduate Schools 2007"), making it second in New York City. The Full-Time MBA was ranked in the top three of New York programs. Both were the only ranked public programs in New York State.

* The 2006 edition of the Wall Street Journal/Harris Interactive Business School Survey ranked Baruch 50th among the nation's top 50 regional undergraduate business colleges.

* A joint survey by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review ranked Baruch 18th out of the top 25 undergraduate entrepreneurial colleges in the nation in 2006.

* Baruch's MBA program ranks among the Aspen Institute's Global 100 list of colleges and universities included in its Center for Business Education's Beyond Grey Pinstripes 2007 MBA survey, a biennial survey and alternative ranking of business schools that are driving discussions of social and environmental issues into the core curriculum and addressing these topics in terms of mainstream business decision-making.

* In the 24th Annual Survey of Accounting Professors in the U.S., conducted by the Public Accounting Report (2005), Baruch's undergraduate accounting program ranked 15th; Baruch's graduate accounting program was 22nd.

* Public Accounting Report's Annual Survey of accounting professors ranked Baruch's undergraduate and graduate accounting programs among the best in the country in its 2008 rankings, at 20th and 22nd respectively. Additionally, Baruch's doctoral program in accounting was listed in the "honorable mention" category.

* Baruch's School of Public Affairs is ranked in the top 20 percent in the nation for its Master of Public Administration program by U.S. News & World Report (2006).

* Baruch was tied for 2nd place with Harvard for the "number of graduates in 100 most influential people in accounting worldwide." (1999) and ranked first nationwide for people with advanced degrees who pass the CPA exam. (1999)

lol, dude! the link that you gave was what HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS rank colleges. those people don't know anything and it's just a random survey.

with regard to Mason, it's a third tier and therefore they (USNews) don't rank schools when they get into that third tier.

Wait?

That's the right side of the Survey of a ranking of 1-5 is the HS Counselor.
(They rated the universities on a scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the top score)

The rank on the left is the actual ranking.

Or I could be mistaken.

there may be similarities, but the rankings are here: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandre...ities-rankings

they don't rank third tier schools. they're just mentioned as third tier schools.

that's wrong as well. there are a lot of religious schools and just local schools on that link. acceptance rate is a factor and not totally indicative.

the link I provided above is the correct one, trust me.

Ah Ha! I would be absolutely wrong if I didn't include my margin of error of 5%

4146 Schools in the USA meaning 5% would leave 207 schools to not correlate with this norm.

Yes, that rating above you showed me seems accurate.

Enough about schools back on topic

I have to say, there is a 335i(mildly modded) in our garage and I am kind of embarrassed to be even remotely have the slightest bit in common with that guy. All because of the brand of car. In fact, it makes me want to get rid of the 2 Mercs in the garage too since he is considering an E55. Wonder how my wife would like driving a (gasp) 612? Of course, he would probably buy a 308 then, knowing my luck.

BMWs are great cars, it sucks that it is tarnished by the douchebags that drive them.

correct, I can't say every BMW driver is a douchebag because then my wife must necessarily be included.
