E55 HID bulb removal

My w211 has been sitting in the garage awaiting new bulbs, but my mechanic friend and I can't figure out how to remove the stock bulbs. We have the circular covers off that seal the bulbs from the engine bay, but can't unclip/release the bulbs from the housings. They don't want to disengage!
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Turn the ballast counter clockwise to take it off of the bulb then press down and out to remove the brackets that hold the bulb in place. There are two brackets for each bulb.

Its a tight squeeze for sure and to get off the clips are hard too...
I look from the outside of the lens back in to see if the bulbs are moving so I know if Im close to getting them out...

yea unscrew that housing circular cover from the headlight, then put your hands in the hole and youll feel a square piece called the Hella Ignitor. after that it will pop off with the wire, then just take the wire off. Then do what bobgodd said.

the trickiest part is putting it back in. try to remember how it comes out so its easier for you to put back in.

Good luck. I hope this helped

Veeeeeery tricky! Super, super tricky! I think it took me like 20-30 minutes when I tried to put mine back on. And that was just the passenger side. Just remember no matter how frustrating it is to be patient. You'll eventually get those suckers off and back on, but you'll cause yourself a lot of hurt if you get impatient and bad hand it!

It's hard to tell tone in written communication, but I wasn't being sarcastic! I had a very hard time getting that sucker back on. Obviously it's simple to think about, but actually getting it on there is another story entirely.

yea sry i meant that its very difficult puttin them in. make sure the bulb is connected in perfectly. Mine kind of was off and made the ignitor burn and resulted in me buying a new one.

It took me 4 hours, including dinner and breaks to get my bulbs back in last week! I had done it before in 10 minutes, but not this time. I kept trying to put the bulbs back in but angling them the wrong way (you have to do it blindly) and man, I was enraged! lol
