Bent Rims
I live in NJ and the roads are not the best but not the worst. I have never had so many issues with bending rims. I do not drive the E everyday but this is the second time the rim was bent on 4 months. Are the rims this soft? are there harder rims out there that look nice? Is this normal?
I have stock E63 rims.

Brunoboxer,
I know that you already know this. But I definately know where your coming from, bent rims are a serious problem with all the potholes out there. I have never bent a rim, but have cracked a few on my Mini Cooper S, with low profile tires. If your running wheels larger then 18 inches, try to buy tires with a taller sidewall, and not low profiles. There are nice wheels out there, that you can buy. try www.formymercedes.com They have some really nice ones out there. The other alternative would be to avoid those potholes, as much as possible. I know that roads that I drive on, and have learned to locations where the potholes exists. But new one pop up everyday. Good Luck

If you think that roads in Philly are bad, try Camden! The roads in the North East are crap, due to the freeze-thaw effect. The potholes just get bigger and bigger. I drive my C 300, most times when I go to visit my family in Pennsauken, NJ.

Whatever we're tuning!
^ Totally agree.
Try running a little higher psi in your tires. Usually rim cracking/bending is caused by the tire pressure being too low where the shot goes directly to the rim.
Of course there are potholes that will damage ANY wheel regardless of tire pressure. Just be careful!.

I have bent my 19" rims twice.. and cracked my rear 18" stock rim.. once..
I'm hesitant on putting my 19" back... they look great, but tire wear and bent rims really make it to justify the look.

Bent 4 rims in 3 months. Howz dat! If you want to play..........
Seriously, I am certainly more cautious these days and more watchful of the road. The last incident was a brick in the road and flew my direction, fortunately no other damage and the wheel shop repaired and cleaned up the wheel nicely.

I'm pretty sure that AMG wheels are forged, they take a piece of billet aluminum heat it, to a gazillion degrees, then put it in a 20 ton press to mold it to the correct shape, then mill it out on a CNC machine. Not only does in make the wheel strong but light as well.
